Watch: New Trailer For Thriller 'Magic Magic' Starring Michael Cera & Juno Temple

It premiered at Sundance earlier this year and played at the Directors' Fortnight last month at Cannes, but it seems Sebastian Silva’s “Magic Magic” will not be playing at a theater near you. Instead, it’s going straight to DVD. What’s up with that? Either way, the first official trailer for the psychological thriller has just been posted online, giving you a taste of what the film’s all about.

So, Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch has made a movie, and will it be as aw shucks whimsical as the albums he's released? Judging by the first images from the movie, the answer appears to yes. And that just seems fine to us, because if you're a fan of the man's work already, a cast of good looking young leads in school uniforms and vintage clothes pretty much hits the bullseye.

What a difference a “W.S.” makes. From the sublimely gifted to the ridiculously not-so, Andersons Paul Thomas and Paul W.S. share little beyond twinned SEO credentials (fortuitous for W.S., less so for Thomas) and the memory of being picked on at the top of the school register. Having last delivered us the aptly masterful “The Master,” and “Resident Evil: Retribution” (retribution, presumably, for its unwitting audience) respectively, news of a forthcoming Anderson picture could spell delight or “dear God, no” for film fans. Regrettably, this story concerns the latter, lesser, Anderson.

While Michael Cera will return to your computer in his most beloved role as George-Michael Bluth in the next season of "Arrested Development," he's always been eager to break out of that mold. It was perhaps inevitable that Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian was going to move into filmmaking. For anyone who has followed the band over the years, you know that each album has usually arrived with an extensive story build around it, with appropriately theatrical artwork to go with it. Well, following a Kickstarter campaign and with the support of "Rushmore" producer Barry Mendel, the pieces all came together this spring for "God Help The Girl" with Elle Fanning and Brit actor Olly Alexander nabbing roles, but it looks like with production set to get underway, some changes have been made.

We're sure Catherine Hardwicke and Evan Rachel Wood are still pals, but sometimes scheduling or a variety of other reasons keep two people from working together. Earlier this year it looked like the "Thirteen" star and director were going to reunite on "Plush," but alas, things don't seem to have worked out. But another capable star is looking to come off the bench and sub in.

The unnecessary-but-it's-happening-anyway remake of "Carrie" over at MGM continues to move forward. At the beginning of the year, a random, but kind of inspired decision was made to have Kimberly Peirce sit in the director's chair, and now it seems a gaggle of young Hollywood talent is circling the title role.

Emily Browning is coming off an interesting, if not exactly successful 2011. She had the unfortunate task of leading Zack Snyder's teenage boy wet dream "Sucker Punch," a film whose failures landed squarely on the director, but didn't do much favors to the cast who were ultimately wasted in the endeavor. She then headed to Cannes to walk the red carpet for the provocative "Sleeping Beauty," a challenging, cold, hermetic film that despite its supporters didn't become an arthouse hit. And while she did audition for "Hunger Games," and lined up a part in the upcoming Michael Cera thriller "Magic Magic" she's kicking of 2012 will something a bit more low key.
