Over the past few weeks, "American Horror Story: Coven" has piled on the craziness, to the point that the show occasionally felt overwhelming, like a giant toppling tower of racist, flesh-eating zombies that are also possessed and on fire. Mercifully, this week's episode, "The Dead," written by co-creator Brad Falchuk, gave us time to pause and catch our breath a little bit before the next round of blood-drenched mayhem.

Tribeca Review: 'Adult World' Spins A Quirky Comedy That Doesn't Quite Come Together

The very first scene of "Adult World" should immediately set off warning bells. It's a glimpse of heroine Amy (Emma Roberts) as she contemplates suicide in much the same way someone goes about stacking bills; without weight, as if it's something of an eternal hassle. Except her worried countenance and the Sylvia Plath poster on the wall suggests she's being serious, and that this is supposed to be mildly funny that someone is sweating the details of suicide, even though this character already looks as if she's not taking this seriously. It's a confused way to introduce the audience to a character, as both suicidal and half-hearted.

Certainly, if you had to hitch your wagon to two rising actresses, you could do far worse than Emma Roberts and AnnaSophia Robb. Both of them have seen their place in Hollywood slowly moving on the uptick. Roberts has been quietly amassing a good body of work, dabbing mostly in indies like "It's Kind of a Funny Story" and "The Art of Getting By" but also making a pit stop into a franchise with "Scream 4." Meanwhile Robb, was probably best known as Violet Beauregarde in Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" until earlier this year when she led the sleeper hit "Soul Surfer."

Rashida Jones' rise in the comedy world after debuting on "The Office" a few years ago is definitely commendable. The daughter of music legend Quincy Jones (we're sure she loves hearing that) is a regular on NBC's "Parks And Recreation," has already starred in "I Love You, Man" and will soon be seen in "My Idiot Brother," "The Big Year" and "The Muppets." Jones starred recently in Dana Adam Shapiro's Brooklyn-based relationship drama "Monogamy" and will soon make her writing debut with "Celeste And Jesse Forever" which will see her star along side Andy Samberg.

And with "Scream 4" headed to theaters very soon, the actress is lining up another promising project.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Not A Frontrunner For The RoleLess than 24 hours after Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Jennifer Lawrence emerged as contenders for the highly touted role of Katniss Everdeen in the gestating "Hunger Games," some more, pretty obvious names emerged. Talent that would be on any director or casting agent's wishlist for a role that needs a young female lead.

New decade, new rules, huh? Not exactly. Pop quiz: what would a "Scream" movie be without its movie in-jokes, exactly? Hmm, perhaps an original film? A Canadian trailer for the Weinstein Company's desperate franchise cash-in has arrived and get it while it's hot because the studio keeps taking down various trailers on YouTube only for them to spring up again five minutes later. They should probably realize the wildfire has spread and it's best to just release an official version already.
