Escape From Tomorrow
We’re not sure why writer/director Randy Moore decided to come swinging out the gate with a first feature like “Escape from Tomorrow,” and frankly, we’re not entirely sure how he got away with even making it in the first place. Much of this dark, utterly bizarre comedy would appear to be covertly shot on the property of Orlando’s Walt Disney World, and despite Moore’s strident avoidance of the dreaded D-word, there’s little doubting that the Mouse House and all it represents is in his sights.

10 Films To See In October
You could be inclined to believe October is just like any other month, especially since there’s only one major horror movie set for wide release to scare your pants off on Halloween. Sadly this must-see slate of ten won’t sate your bloodlust, but it does feature awards-contenders, smart indies and survival thrillers that will have you grabbing the person closes to you. And moreover, these are ten good movies that we think are worthy of your time and money over the next thirty days. So let's dive right in....

"Escape from Tomorrow," the beloved Sundance curio from writer/director Randy Moore about a man who goes mad while visiting Walt Disney World, seemed like something that would never see the light of day outside of the festival circuit, considering both the way the filmmakers obtained footage from the park surreptitiously and for the way they used that footage to paint a devastatingly bleak portrait of the company. Well, it is coming out, and marketers have become even more brazen about the Disney connection, flaunting it in the studio's face while waving a painted bulls-eye. The trailer that just premiered is the most shocking fuck-you yet. Watch it below.

escape from tomorrow, poster crop
Well, it seems that since Randy Moore's "Escape from Tomorrow," a surrealist smash at Sundance Film Festival that was filmed, either surreptitiously or illegally depending on your frame of mind, at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks, will actually be getting a theatrical and VOD release in October, the gloves (quite literally) have come off: just take a gander at the confrontational new poster for the film, debuted by Entertainment Weekly.

First festival of the year? Done and dusted. Every year, the movie industry heads en masse to Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, Robert Redford's celebration of independent cinema, which has become increasingly important over the years, in the hope of uncovering the next big thing. Last year's festival brought "Beasts of the Southern Wild," which went on to be one of the best-reviewed films of the year, and a Best Picture nominee at the Academy Awards, and while there wasn't a singular breakout in the same way, the festival was certainly in good form.
