Sundance Wrap: The 5 Best Films Of The Festival, Plus Our Complete Coverage

First festival of the year? Done and dusted. Every year, the movie industry heads en masse to Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, Robert Redford's celebration of independent cinema, which has become increasingly important over the years, in the hope of uncovering the next big thing. Last year's festival brought "Beasts of the Southern Wild," which went on to be one of the best-reviewed films of the year, and a Best Picture nominee at the Academy Awards, and while there wasn't a singular breakout in the same way, the festival was certainly in good form.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Sundance is up and running, and that means as well as getting to hear about all of the cool movies that all of those lucky writers up in Park City are getting to see, you also get to see the odd clip from some of the festival’s new movies. Well, that’s exactly what we’ve got for you here, with a clip a piece from two of the most buzzed about films coming out of the fest so far.

Sundance Review: ‘Escape From Tomorrow’ Takes Viewers On A Mind-Melting Vacation from Hell

We’re not sure why writer/director Randy Moore decided to come swinging out the gate with a first feature like “Escape from Tomorrow,” and frankly, we’re not entirely sure how he got away with even making it in the first place. Much of this dark, utterly bizarre comedy would appear to be covertly shot on the property of Orlando’s Walt Disney World, and despite Moore’s strident avoidance of the dreaded D-word, there’s little doubting that the Mouse House and all it represents is in his sights.
