We haven't hit Memorial Day Weekend yet, but it's official: Summer Blockbuster Season is underway. Between comic books, Michael Bay's latest flick, a Tom Cruise vehicle, and summer dalliances in the Hamptons, the second installment of the rebooted "Star Trek" franchise almost seems superfluous. Almost. Still, there's plenty of other delightful fare at the cinemas: another "Taken" imitation, a New-York-set coming-of-late-20s-ager, a B-horror movie set in Maine, a Korean thriller that may or may not feature Oedipal urges, and plenty of engaging documentaries. So enjoy the early onset of summer, faithful readers! And tell us what you want to see to celebrate it in the comments below!

After a new trailer just a couple of weeks back, some fresh photos have just been released for the forthcoming Aaron Eckhart-led thriller "Erased." The film also features Liana Liberato and Olga Kurylenko who's back in more familiar territory after her excursion with Terrence Malick in "To The Wonder." The film finds Eckhart playing ex-CIA agent Ben Logan who discovers that he and his daughter (Liberato) have been marked for termination as part of a wide-reaching international conspiracy. A dangerous game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Logan tries to outsmart his hunters (amongst whom is Kurylenko) and uncover the truth.

Shot quite a while back, and originally slated to be released last fall, the action thriller "The Expatriate" is finally coming, with a new, even more generic title: "Erased." At least they both begin with E, right? Anyway, if "The Bourne Legacy" left you hankering for another similarly styled, but Hydrox version of the movie, well, here's your chems.

The Weinsteins VOD/artier arthouse shingle Radius continues to rack up an impressive roster in their debut year. Sundance comedy hit "Bachelorette" and two Nicolas Winding Refn associated projects -- the "Pusher" remake and the director's next film "Only God Forgives" -- are now flying under the banner, and they're continuing on their buying spree, notching another movie under their belt.

Two first looks at what are upcoming B-movies? Hard to say, you be the judge. The first is the action thriller "The Expatriate" starring Aaron Eckhart. It's a picture without many stars outside of Olga Kurylenko, and while she's certainly attractive, she's hardly a big star. The film is directed by Philipp Stölzl, a German director known for "North Face," "Young Goethe in Love" and music videos by Garbage, Evanescence and Rammstein.

'Trust' Star Liana Libreto Also On BoardAaron Eckhart's transition from respected character actor into mainstream leading man has been a bumpy road. For every "The Dark Knight" there is an ill-conceived entry like the rom-com "No Reservations," and while it did solid box office ($180 million worldwide) "Battle: Los Angeles" was fucking terrible. But Eckhart isn't through kicking ass and taking names, and he's currently filming "Expatriate" and now has a former Bond girl on his tail.
