Last week saw a flurry of rumors greet "Gravity" director Alfonso Cuarón. First came word that he was in talks to direct "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find To Them," and was followed a few days later by more news that Warner Bros. was offering him "The Shining" prequel "Overlook Hotel." But it would seem it's all a bit premature.

Gravity, Cuaron
Of the handful of directors to tackle the 'Harry Potter' series, Alfonso Cuarón has largely been regarded as having directed the best entry, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." But fresh in the glow of "Gravity"—a box office smash, critical favorite and multiple Oscar winner—where he could probably do pretty much anything he wants, will he return to the world of wizards?

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them
It has barely been two years since "The Dark Knight Rises," yet today Warner Bros. unveiled their new-look Batman—played by Ben Affleck—who will be suiting up to play Bruce Wayne in "Batman vs. Superman" in 2016. So, that's four years between Christopher Nolan's film and whatever Zack Snyder is cooking up (and even less time than between "Spider-Man 3" and "The Amazing Spider-Man," FYI). Why the rush? Because there's gold in them hills, and they're looking to keep the money flowing, and no surprise, WB wants more of those "Harry Potter" riches too.

Fantastic Beasts,
With Marvel showing Hollywood how its done, setting up their movie series in Phases, signing up actors with extended contracts and creating an ever expanding tentpole universe, everyone else is following suit. Over at Fox, the X-Men series just keeps getting bigger, while they've also already announced a "Fantastic Four" sequel before the first movie has even shot a frame. And now Warner Bros. are promising to do the same, with big news apparently around the corner.

While the exact size of the money truck Warner Bros. has driven up the doorstep of author J.K. Rowling has yet to be revealed, it looks like the adventures of Harry Potter will be continuing. Kind of. While not a direct prequel or sequel, or even involving the character at all, it seems the studio is confident that just the mere mention of Hogwarts will get people checking out their latest venture. And they're probably right.
