Has there ever been a franchise like the "Fast & Furious?" Begun over ten years ago with a film most notable for its '50s-style B-movie title, "The Fast & The Furious," it was a modest sleeper hit. Before long the series saw its biggest draw, the potato-headed growl-monster Vin Diesel, exit the series before it really got going, leading to the Paul Walker solo outing "2 Fast 2 Furious." Unsurprisingly, the box office for that one took a hit, a trend that continued with the Walker-free third outing "The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift." But ever since the series has been on a constant upswing, with "Fast Five" making nearly half-a-billion dollars worldwide, and even winning some critical plaudits, at least for series veteran Justin Lin.

Rev those engines, y'all. The fifth installment of the "Fast & Furious" film franchise, "Fast Five," was set in Brazil, hence the soundtrack album full of reggaeton and rhythmic Latin tracks, but even going back to the first movie and soundtrack, Latin flavors have abounded. In "Fast & Furious 6," the gang are wanted fugitives, but they're offered a chance at a clean slate if they play ball.

While some filmmakers and studios have done everything in their power to build a mystique around their tentpoles -- think “Star Trek Into Darkness” or “Man Of Steel” -- the team behind “Fast & Furious 6” are clearly of the mind that “more is more.” Though the film hits theaters at the end of the month, Universal Pictures has released nine new clips.

The Playlist's Most Anticipated Blockbusters Of The 2013 Summer Season
Ah, summer. That time of year marked by long days, short skirts, and the application of sunscreen. It’s the season where even the most hardened cineaste can put aside their Criterion Collection discs, if only for a moment, and get excited about the jazzy, visual effects-driven blockbusters coming down the pike. The line between “summer” and “any other time of the year,” in terms of movies, keeps getting blurrier and blurrier, with big-budget studio fare like “Oz the Great and Powerful” and “Oblivion” coming out in the spring (we had a Michael Bay movie open in April, for crying out loud – before this it was questionable whether or not he even existed outside of June or July).

BROS! Can you believe it? School's almost out and summer's almost here, which means: bros, babes, beers, BBQ...and some vehicular warfare.

While we wait with a six pack of Red Bull for the vehicular warfare of the summer that is "Fast & Furious 6," it may be that Universal really likes what the The Rock is cooking. The actor, who joined the franchise in "Fast Five," and helped make it a phenomenal worldwide success, is undoubtedly graduating into blockbuster leading-man status. Next week comes "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," and Johnson shoots "Hercules" this year with Brett Ratner. So, the idea that the studio might want to give him his own spinoff cars 'n 'splosions movie is pretty much a no-brainer.

Guys, you know that moment in "Live Free Or Die Hard" where John McClane crashes into a fucking helicopter? Well, it looks like "Fast & Furious 6" is going to be that scene, but for a whole movie.
