Ice Cube, Paul Walker
Dude, it’s the MTV Movie Awards, what is there to get upset about? It’s about 1,000 rungs below the Oscars, so nothing to freak about if you don't win. But in case you missed it, this is what Ice Cube had to say about his comedy “Ride Along” not winning the Best Duo Award at Sunday’s prestigious MTV Movie Awards.

With the clock ticking on 2013, you might be finalizing your list of resolutions before heading out to celebrate the New Year. But in Hollywood, you can bet that studio executives are looking at the year that was, and hoping to do more of the same in the years ahead. Much more.

"I would be a liar if I was to say, across the board, no piracy," Quentin Tarantino told Cannes Film Festival press back in 2004 when he was serving as Jury president. That said, he wasn't advocating nicking movies that are legally available, instead saying that it's an option to view movies that are harder to find via traditional methods. So we can't imagine he's wildly pleased about this bit of news.

Ah, Time magazine... the once venerable publication that might actually name Miley Cyrus as their Person Of The Year (she's currently leading online voting). Last year, the mag angered certain corners of the internet by declaring "Cloud Atlas" as their worst film of 2012, while their mostly decent top ten also included "Frankenweenie." And this year, critic Richard Corliss has increased the oddball choices.

Over the weekend actor Paul Walker, best known for his role in Universal's ongoing "Fast and Furious" franchise, died tragically in a car accident in California. The actor was in the midst of filming the seventh film in the series, with every intention of continuing. As Bilge Ebiri pointed out over at Vulture, the series was originally designed as a vehicle for Walker, based on the actor's experience working with original director Rob Cohen on the marginal collegiate thriller "The Skulls." Even after his death it's easy to be glib about his skills as an actor, but Walker turned in a handful of memorable performances both within and outside of the 'Fast' franchise.

After Earth, Will Smith
Has there ever been any franchise quote like the "Fast And Furious" films? Since Justin Lin took over the series, the grosses have risen with each installment. His "The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift" collected $158 million globally seven years ago, and now, three movies later, "Fast And Furious 6" is set to gross over $170 million domestically within its first eleven days of release. Even with two challenging newcomers in the marketplace, this latest installment held the top spot for the second weekend in a row, and should become the second film in the series to cross half a billion in global gross within days (it currently rests at $480.6M globally).

Has there ever been a franchise like the "Fast & Furious?" Begun over ten years ago with a film most notable for its '50s-style B-movie title, "The Fast & The Furious," it was a modest sleeper hit. Before long the series saw its biggest draw, the potato-headed growl-monster Vin Diesel, exit the series before it really got going, leading to the Paul Walker solo outing "2 Fast 2 Furious." Unsurprisingly, the box office for that one took a hit, a trend that continued with the Walker-free third outing "The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift." But ever since the series has been on a constant upswing, with "Fast Five" making nearly half-a-billion dollars worldwide, and even winning some critical plaudits, at least for series veteran Justin Lin.

Rev those engines, y'all. The fifth installment of the "Fast & Furious" film franchise, "Fast Five," was set in Brazil, hence the soundtrack album full of reggaeton and rhythmic Latin tracks, but even going back to the first movie and soundtrack, Latin flavors have abounded. In "Fast & Furious 6," the gang are wanted fugitives, but they're offered a chance at a clean slate if they play ball.

While some filmmakers and studios have done everything in their power to build a mystique around their tentpoles -- think “Star Trek Into Darkness” or “Man Of Steel” -- the team behind “Fast & Furious 6” are clearly of the mind that “more is more.” Though the film hits theaters at the end of the month, Universal Pictures has released nine new clips.
