The Rewrite
Even as he takes roles in "Cloud Atlas" and the upcoming "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," Hugh Grant is sandwiching those films with something he knows: romantic comedies. And so the first trailer for "The Rewrite" is here and its familiar stuff in new packaging.

Exists
Eduardo Sánchez made an indelible mark in 1999 with his first film, “The Blair Witch Project.” Since then, his resume’s been spotted with sporadic contributions to the horror genre, none of which have made anything near as strong an impression as his debut work.

Horns, Radcliffe
This fall, Ben Affleck won't be the only big time actor accused of murder, despised by the public and swarmed by the media. Daniel Radcliffe will also face accusations of a heinous crime in the forthcoming "Horns," but unlike David Fincher's "Gone Girl," this film is coming packaged with a supernatural twist.

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4
HBO may not have had the Emmy night it wanted on Monday, but the network is still the high watermark for television. Would “Breaking Bad” have won if “The Sopranos” had never aired and changed the game for what cable dramas could be? While you mull over the implications of David Chase’s landmark TV show never having existed, why not refresh your memory on what exactly went down last season on another mobster show, “Boardwalk Empire”?

Trash, Rooney Mara
“It’s a country I feel in love with, they believe in change…and they believe in their country,” Stephen Daldry told Screen Daily about Brazil, the setting of his upcoming "Trash." And certainly, the filmmaker rolled up his sleeves and dove right in, casting three kids —Rickson Teves, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein— who had never been on camera before to star in his film alongside Rooney Mara, Martin Sheen and Wagner Moura.

Son Of A Gun. Ewan McGregor
With names like Ewan McGregor, Alicia Vikander and Brenton Thwaites among the cast, we figured "Son Of A Gun" would've been slotted somewhere on the fall festival circuit (maybe it'll show up in Telluride this weekend?). But the thriller is opening Down Under shortly, and the first trailer is here.

X+Y
In 2007, director Morgan Matthews delivered his TV documentary "Beautiful Young Minds," which centered on a group of students participating in the International Mathematics Olympiad. Among the nods it received was a BAFTA TV nomination for Best Single Documentary, and now Matthews hopes the feature version of that story will get even more attention.

"Ghostbusters"
What is there left to say about "Ghostbusters" that hasn't already been said in the three decades since the movie landed in theatres, spawned a franchise and became an instant nostalgia touchstone for people of a certain age? Perhaps it's a good time to remind folks that for all the warm and fuzzy memories, Ernie Hudson (aka Winston) had a pretty crap time making the movie. After signing on, he saw his role in the movie significantly reduced to almost half of what was in the original script, with the longstanding rumor that Eddie Murphy originally sought the part (though Ivan Reitman long denied this) leading the studio to minimize Hudson's role.

The Connection
There are few films about the battle between Johnny Law and drug dealers that can measure up to "The French Connection," so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That seems to be Cédric Jimenez's operating principle, as his forthcoming "The Connection" is a Euro flavored take on William Friedkin's classic. The movie is headed to the Toronto International Film Festival for its world premiere, and the first international teaser trailer is here.
