There is probably no show that engendered as much hate-watching last year as Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom." The highly anticipated show had so much to like about it including a great lead turn from Jeff Daniels, and basically an all around excellent cast (Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, John Gallagher Jr., Jane Fonda, Chris Messina, Terry Crews, Olivia Munn etc). But damn if Sorkin couldn't out of the way of himself, with the show seemingly unable to go two minutes without speech-ifying, not to mention two separate, and equally tedious romantic subplots that made adults act like junior high teenagers. Can Sorkin right the ship in season two?

Blue Jasmine
Well, it's been twelve months, so it's time for another Woody Allen film. This time around it's "Blue Jasmine," and no, he's not in exotic Barcelona, stuffy London or the touristy Rome. Instead, he's in San Francisco for the first time, and the results look pretty great.

"Trainspotting" was the first Irvine Welsh book to make it to the big screen, and still the best. "The Acid House" has faded into memory, while the forthcoming "Ecstasy" hasn't raised much heat on the festival circuit. And while we patiently await the "Trainspotting" sequel Danny Boyle hopes to make in 2016, "Filth" could be the Welsh movie fans have been waiting for since 1996.

For a movie that has been in the works for a while, at one time set to re-team "Face/Off" duo Nicolas Cage and John Travolta with John McTiernan directing, the final result here is pretty dismal. Cage was swapped with Robert De Niro (which these days hardly means anything since they both choose awful projects), and the director's chair was vacated by McTiernan and filled with Mark Steven Johnson -- aka the guy behind "Daredevil" and "Ghost Rider" -- and so now we have...this....

One of the great gear shifts in the already twisty, excellent series "Breaking Bad," came in season four when Skylar (Anna Gunn) finally learned the truth about Walter White's extracurricular activities. And it led to one of the all time great scenes in the show so far, in the season four, episode six entry "Cornered." When Skylar admits she fears for her life because of what could come to their door because of his business, Walt delivers a chilling monologue in which he declares, “I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger…I am the one who knocks!” And while we can't imagine anyone but Bryan Cranston in the role, it's still fun to see someone else give it a shot.

Ben Affleck Justin Timberlake, Runner Runner
"Hey, you know what would be a good idea? Let's premiere the trailer for our hot new movie with Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, and let the airheads on 'Entertainment Tonight' talk over most of it!" Okay, no one actually said that sentence, but sometimes you have to wonder what marketing departments are thinking. And so, here's part of the first trailer for the thriller "Runner Runner," brought to you by the people who aren't even John Tesh and Mary Hart.
