Well, you gotta admit, Baz Luhrmann has a pretty big pair of brass ones when it comes to "The Great Gatsby." With a soundtrack dressing up the classic American novel with songs by will.i.am, Fergie, Lana Del Rey, Jay-Z and The xx, he's certainly taking F. Scott Fitzgerald's book out of the classroom and into...somewhere else. And with 3D visuals, lavish set design and, oh yeah, an all star cast, it's go big or go home. And now a few more treats are here to bring you into Luhrmann's world.

The racing genre as a whole doesn't offer a lot to choose from, particularly when it comes to dramas that just stick to the race track and don't burn your retinas like "Speed Racer" or jack up your experience with 'splosions like the "Fast & Furious" franchise. In fact, it's been a while since we've had a movie set strictly on the race track, but Ron Howard's "Rush" is not only getting behind that wheel, but also telling a great story.

Behind The Candelabra, Michael Douglas
Steven Soderbergh has never been one to resist a challenge (ie. a 12-hour adaptation of John Barth's "The Sot-Weed Factor"), and certainly, his long-developing biopic of Liberace, "Behind the Candelabra," faced its fair share of resistance. The director has been up front about major studios turning down the movie for being "too gay," but it seems it's going to be their loss. HBO has dropped a brand new trailer for the movie and it looks nothing short of great.

The summer movie season may be heading into full swing, but with the Cannes Film Festival about six weeks away, we're going to be getting a bit arthouse on you from time to time, and this weekend brings with it a fresh look at a movie highly expected to reach the Croisette.

Carrie, Moretz
This weekend, a young girl goes into the woods and comes out covered in blood after 90 minutes or so of sheer mayhem. And while "Carrie" may not have to employ the use of a chainsaw, she's got some other powers on hand that nonetheless will still leave things ending just as red.

There is probably no bigger (or riskier) question mark this spring than Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby," which has battled a delay and rumors of a troubled production only to nab the opening slot at the Cannes Film Festival (and in the process breaking an unspoken tradition of the Croisette hosting world premieres only -- it will open in the U.S. a week earlier). But there are reasons to be excited. Namely, Luhrmann has faced this kind of scrutiny before and won people over, and also, the always charming Jason Clarke excitedly told us last year that the 3D will "....be amazing and there's never been anything like it."

Earlier today there was the trailer for "The Purge," a movie that we didn't know was happening because it was so far off our radar. And then there's "The English Teacher," a movie this writer initially mistook for "Writers" aka "Stuck In Love," due to the (omnipresence?) of Greg Kinnear and Lily Collins. But just like that movie, it's another indie dramedy where good looking people can't seem to sort out their love life. And frankly, we expect much better from you, Julianne Moore.

When we last saw Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), they had survived the perilous "The Hunger Games" and now they're on a victory lap tour or some such thing. Surely things aren't gonna stay that celebratory and happy in the "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" sequel for long. In fact, in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' YA novels, Katniss and Peta are dethroned from their respective victory riches and put back into the arena for the most climatic and menacing of the Hunger Games, known as the "Quarter Quell" (whatever) that means. Directed by Francis Lawrence (using IMAX cameras in some segments), a new teasing teaser trailer (which, let's face it, shows next to nothing) has arrived.

Wait, what is this movie? We have to admit either this flew entirely under our radar, we forgot about it or just plain didn't care. And maybe that's how Universal felt as well considering "The Purge" comes out next month and they're only starting to market the thing now, but, since it's coming from Team Blumhouse, the budget was probably about a million bucks and they'll make money on this if just five people show up. Considering it's a violent thriller with a "clever" premise from guys behind "Paranormal Activity" and "Sinister," people will probably line up in droves.

So, this summer marks a not so momentous occasion: "Grown Ups 2" is the first Adam Sandler sequel. And in making the followup to the smash hit "Grown Ups" -- a movie we still have a tough time believing anyone actually liked, even though lots of people went to see it for some reason -- Sandler rounded up some extra help to join his regular crew. And we never though we would type this but it's come to the point where Taylor Lautner is now funnier than Adam Sandler. Really.
