While the first trailer for "Bachelorette" was amusing, it didn't seem to quite capture the spirit that has earned the girls-gone-bad comedy an R rating. But in case you wanted to know how foul things get, a new red band spot has dropped, and among the first things mentioned in the spot are blowjobs and cocaine. Getting our attention? Mission accomplished.

After making the beautiful and ethereal anti-western "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford," Andrew Dominik took a bit of time away, and now five years later he returns with a wholly different film, the angry, caustic, funny and riveting "Killing Them Softly."

Well, if anything, Lee Daniels' much-talked-about "The Paperboy" will at least be interesting. Boasting more accents than the cafeteria at the United Nations, a scenery chewing performance by a thoroughly de-glammed Nicole Kidman and enough sweat to fill a sauna, the first trailer for the film is here and it's...like we said, interesting.

After making a name for himself with the Oscar-nominated "Hoop Dreams," considered one of the best sports documentaries of all time, filmmaker Steve James followed it up with sports-oriented films like "Prefontaine," "Passing Glory" and "Joe And Max." Last year saw the release of his remarkable crime documentary "The Interrupters" which was widely praised, earning a DGA nomination and landing on one Playlist writer's favourite films of 2011. However, in 2012, James is returning to the sports world with a more critical eye in "Head Games," a look at the growing issue of concussion and its long term medical effects on atheletes.

Hollywood is a weird place. While it can be known for being forward-thinking or progressive in its politics, willing to adapt to social changes and put new stories on the big screen, like the Oscar-nominated "The Kids Are All Right" that offers a refreshing and modern look at families, on the other hand, it can be strangely conservative. And so, we'll forgive you if when watching the trailer for "The Big Wedding" you might think it was exhumed from a previous decade (or two).

We're always up for a good little thriller or a piece of noir, and while buzz on "I, Anna" has pretty much been muted at this point despite premiering at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this month, the cast and material is compelling enough that we're eager to give this one a shot.

To say that this movie isn't exactly in our wheelhouse would be an understatement. The only time we've ever talked about "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" has been in a feature about unnecessary sequels, and another about whether or not video games can make good movies. But it doesn't matter what we think, because there is a core of fans who enjoyed the first movie for whatever merits it supposedly had, and pushed it to over $100 million worldwide. A brand is a brand, and thus we have a sequel on the way.

So are uplifting yet tragic surfing movies a thing now? Last year we got "Soul Surfer," the true story of a young woman who gets attacked by a shark while out on the water, loses an arm, finds God, and gets back on the board. And now, we're getting another wholesome slice of sadness in the form of "Chasing Mavericks," a movie that will make you feel good before dropping some heaviness on y'all.

When making a film about a seedier career path – for instance, stripping in Steven Soderbergh’s excellent summer fling “Magic Mike” – it’s important to approach the topic with a delicate and nuanced touch. Our writer on the scene at Berlinale 2012 didn’t exactly find that to be the case with porn career flick “About Cherry,” writing it off as a film that “tries hard to provoke us into reassessing the porn industry, but is so ham-fisted that the result is not a look on the bright side, but a whitewash.”
