The Trip to Italy
The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and soon it will be the season of roadtrips and vacations. But if you're not able to get away, hanging out with Steven Coogan and Rob Brydon as they galavant around Italy might be the next best thing.

Ping Pong Summer
You try and do what you can at film festivals, and sometimes scheduling sleeping/eating/screenings just doesn't work out. So this past January at Sundance, "Ping Pong Summer" just didn't make it onto our radar, but the buzz seemed to be good both there and at SXSW (where we missed it again), but the movie is coming to theaters so perhaps finally we'll see this thing.

The Target
Before you get too excited, this is not a remake of John Boorman's 1967 film, but rather a Korean do-over of the 2010 French action flick "Point Blank," which also as U.S. redo in the works too. But the singularly named director Chang got there first, and even more, his version is headed to Cannes Film Festival where it will play the midnight lineup (yes, they have a midnight lineup too). And the first trailer is here.

Que Vive Insecure
We at the Playlist love Adele Exarchapoulos, whose breakthrough role in the Palme d'Or winner “Blue Is The Warmest Colour” brought her to the world's attention last year. Attention has of course translated into more roles, and she's set to appear in Sean Penn's next piece of directing work, “The Last Face," which will start production this summer.

Penny Dreadful
Dear cable networks, we know you want to schedule all your hot new shows in the spring because you want to keep them in the brains of Emmy voters, but there are only so many hours in a day, and lord knows we don't have time to pick up on a new series each week. So, good luck to Showtime with putting "Penny Dreadful" on the same night as "Game Of Thrones," "Mad Men, "Turn," "Silicon Valley" and "Veep." Our DVRs are crying.

True Blood
Full disclosure: I used to watch "True Blood," and it first, it wasn't so bad. It was trash, but knowing trash, and it had some fun with vampire lore, its deep South setting and Alexander Skarsgard alone made it worth tuning in. He bit into the role of the ancient vampire Erik with real relish, and even found some emotional notes too, particularly at the loss of his maker Godric. But as the seasons wore on, the mythology kept expanding and the show went from trash to camp without realizing it and became something of a chore. And then I bailed. But maybe it's time to catch up the the final season on the way.

Clutter
There's physical clutter and then emotional clutter, but sometimes the two converge in unexpected ways, and that's what comes together in Diane Crespo's appropriately titled, "Clutter."

Third Person
Paul Haggis sure likes his multi-threaded dramas, in which lives intersect and secrets are revealed and we all learn valuable lessons about who we are. Hell, "Crash" won the guy an Oscar, so why not try and do it again, only this time take that concept around the globe? That's just what he did with "Third Person," which debuted at TIFF last fall, and is still without a domestic release date.

The Normal Heart
Okay, so "The Normal Heart" didn't make the Cannes Film Festival lineup like I figured it would, but that doesn't mean we're not putting this one on our watch list for next month. A new trailer is here to remind you why you might want to tune into HBO in May to watch something other than "Game Of Thrones."

Whitewash
Canadian writer/director Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais won the Best New Narrative Director prize at last year year's Tribeca Film Festival for the thriller "Whitewash," and he's excited to see how it's received when everyone has a chance to see it. "Now I just can't wait for Americans to discover Thomas Haden Church's performance," Hoss-Desmarais said when Oscilloscope Laboratories picked up the film last year. The release is impending and we've got an exclusive trailer for you to check out.
