Open Grave Sharlto Copley
Sharlto Copley, antagonist of the recent “Elysium” and South Africa's finest sayer of the word “fuck,” is a man who most likely first came to your attention soaked in a variety of mysterious bodily gunk and viscera, playing the transmogrifying Wikus in Neill Blomkamp's clever sci-fi flick “District 9.” Well, here he is again, covered in blood and unsure of who he is: but at least this time the blood is human (we think?).

lego the movie
Here's a question: can a toy movie actually be genuinely ... good? It's a nut that Hollywood has had a hard time cracking, particularly of late. "Transformers" may be a successful franchise, but to call them "good" would be contort and reconfigure the word like so many robots in disguise. The less said about "Battleship" the better, while Relativity has straight up thrown in the towel on "Stretch Armstrong" being a thing. But Legos? That's a whole a different ballgame.

With over $125 million in the bank for "The Woman In Black" and a sequel on the way, it's safe to say that vintage, and newly rebooted, horror studio Hammer is off to a very healthy start. They managed the rare combo with their Daniel Radcliffe-starring debut: creating a genuinely creepy flick that not only shivered the spines of audiences, but critics too. Can they do it again with "The Quiet Ones"? Well, the first teaser trailer is here and...

Labor Day
A criminal on the run, a young boy coming of age and a woman in need of companionship... all of these elements come together in "Labor Day," the latest from Jason Reitman, which is gearing up to hit theaters in a couple months after making a very modest splash at Telluride and Toronto. It's certainly a different animal from the writer/director's previous pictures, and one that brings a couple of our favorite actors together in the lead roles.

Depending on where you land, Takeshi Kitano's brand of bleak, black humor laced gangster nihilism is either right up your alley or not. This writer didn't particularly care for the beautifully shot but empty "Outrage," though Playlist colleague Gabe Toro really liked the sequel when it played at the New York Film Festival last year. And now, it's finally headed to theaters, so you can get a taste yourself of what Kitano has cooked up with the sequel "Beyond Outrage."

It looks like we can stop debating about whether or not this movie is coming, and start anticipating. After some talk that it wouldn't be ready in time, "The Wolf Of Wall Street" is definitely coming by the end of the year. And with Paramount now sorting all of that out, they can start making sure they pack theaters this December, but something tells us they won't have any trouble.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past
After no shortage of rumors, lots of set photos, a stinger at the end of this summer's "The Wolverine," and the return of Bryan Singer to the director's chair, bringing two schools of "X-Men" together for one massive outing, it's time to see if this all works. The the first trailer for "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" has arrived.

While jumping into the minds and memories of people to see what makes them tick isn't necessarily a new narrative idea, it's hard not to argue that Christopher Nolan's "Inception" took that concept to the kind of blockbuster heights that few could've imagined. Which makes it all the more difficulty for similarly styled movies to play in that territory—they will forever been trying to reach that bar. So as much as we like Mark Strong, "Mindscape" just doesn't stack up.

So what happens when you pair fantastical director Michel Gondry with noted linguist Noam Chomsky? Well, it's pretty much as you might expect; a hybrid of their personalities on film, with the filmmaker's whimsy paired with Chomsky's musings in a movie that could only be called, "Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?"

47 Ronin, Keanu Reeves
As "World War Z" proved this summer, a blockbuster movie going through numerous delays and production woes doesn't automatically add up to a box office bomb. In fact, the zombie thriller was one of Brad Pitt's most successful films of his career, and for audiences at large, the bad blogosphere buzz didn't seem to deter them from buying tickets. So, will the same fate await "47 Ronin"?
