Winter's Tale
Long considered unfilmable, Mark Helprin's novel "Winter's Tale" has been kicking around Hollywood waiting for someone to take it on. And that someone is Akiva Goldsman, the blockbuster producer ("Mr. And Mrs. Smith," "I Am Legend") has written the adaptation and is making his feature debut with the flick. And full credit to him, with the first trailer arriving this evening, it looks like he's poured all he's got into it.

With festival season segueing into Oscar season, the remaining films traveling the festival circuit are slowly making their way into distribution and eventual release. One standout that we caught up with at Karlovy Vary earlier this summer was British director Clio Barnard’s second feature, “The Selfish Giant.” The tale of a troubled young boy (Conor Chapman) and his best friend (Shawn Thomas) got a glowing “B+” review from our own Jessica Kiang who praised its power and lyricism.

You really can't keep a good Steven Soderbergh down. Supposedly retired from directing after “Behind The Candelabra”, the hyperactive movie-maker is using his time off to lend his name to worthy cinematic projects, and none worthier than “Visitors,” which is to be “presented by” Soderbergh, and for which a new trailer has arrived below.

Chavez Micheal Pena
Tremendously talented, but also unfortunately underrated, Michael Peña is the kind of presence we always enjoy in a movie, but he's usually found in a supporting role. But thankfully, Diego Luna has recognized that the actor has more than enough skill and charisma to carry a picture, and he's doing just that in his biopic "Cesar Chavez: An American Hero." And now, we have a taste of how it turned out in the first trailer for the film.
