It takes a certain kind of person to gather up a handful of camels, head out into the middle of the Australian outback, miles from civilization, and start walking, but that's just what Robyn Davidson did and her story is chronicled in "Tracks," the latest from director John Curran (“We Don’t Live Here Anymore,” “The Painted Veil”). And with Mia Wasikowska in the lead role, perhaps it shouldn't surprise you that this is one will be worth watching.

The Pilgrims might have sailed over on the Mayflower, but that was nothing to compared to what Noah went through (if you really believe the Earth was flooded and a man, his family and a lot animals rode it out on an ark). Whether real or metaphor, the story is tailor-made for spectacle and Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" will attempt to tell it next spring.

Cymbeline Ed Harris Milla Jovovich Anton Yelchin
Dirty cops, drug dealing biker gangs.... Now this is Shakespeare. Ethan Hawke has reteamed with his "Hamlet" director Michael Almereyda for a contemporary take on "Cymbeline" and they are moving fast. Lensing only went down in August, yet a trailer has emerged online already and it certainly throws any preconceived notions of the Bard out the window.

Welcome To The Jungle Jean-Claude Van Damme
By now you’ve likely seen the splits-tastic Jean-Claude Van Damme Volvo spot and the just-as-amusing Channing Tatum parody that it inspired. However, one matter that may have come up while watching is simply Van Damme’s varied cinematic output. Recently, “JCVD” and “Universal Soldier: Regeneration” have shown a performer willing to reach for some fantastically bizarre, self-aware moments, but now a new film hopes to take that self-parody to a new level, and we’ve got the trailer and a few clips to gauge its early promise.

With special effects and 3D these days mostly controlled by many mouseclicks and keystrokes, the craft of moviemaking can go underappreciated. But the folks at Laika are making sure everyone knows that a lot of work went into their upcoming "The Boxtrolls."

Gimmie Shelter, Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens has had a pretty wild 2013, going from Harmony Korine's neon soaked pop nightmare "Spring Breakers" to the wilds of Alaska with Nicolas Cage in "The Frozen Ground." And she'll continue to shed her good girl image heading into 2014 with a role that'll make her near unrecognizable.

While Jared Leto is being rightfully lauded for his return to acting, and a great turn in "Dallas Buyers Club" that could land him an Oscar nomination, you might have forgotten he already has a recent movie award in his pocket. Last year the Leto-directed documentary "Artifact" nabbed the People's Choice Award For Documentary at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and as it heads to VOD, a new trailer has emerged.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty
While awards prospects for Ben Stiller's "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" seem to be slim at this point, the movie still has every potential to be a big crowd-pleaser. Aiming squarely at the feel-good, heartwarming center, the remake of Danny Kaye's 1947 classic just wants you to live life to the fullest.

A dark, intense drama led by two of Hollywood's most acclaimed actors, helmed by an arthouse fave director, "True Detective" is one of our most anticipated projects for 2014 no matter what size of screen it's being shown on. And in the cold grip of winter, there might be no better place than your couch to tune in to what promises to be a pretty charged piece of entertainment.

Nymphomaniac, trailer
And we all thought “Antichrist” was fucked up—sexually, emotionally and psychologically. Though Lars Von Trier did a moody left turn with his operatic depression comedy “Melancholia” (hear me out—the first half with the wedding from hell is hilarious... the rest, admittedly not so much), it’s entirely possible “Antichrist” was just a warmup for his latest movie, the four-hour (maybe 5.5 hrs one day) “Nymphomaniac,” which, at least from the trailers, proves that Von Trier has not mellowed with age and isn’t done challenging or terrorizing his audiences.
