Here's a reminder, as the Sundance Film Festival gets underway, that not every movie at a festival is going to make it or be remembered. And so it goes for "The Playroom." The film starring John Hawkes and the underrated Molly Parker premiered last spring to not much fanfare at the Tribeca Fim Festival, and even with someone like Hawkes in the cast, it failed to get much traction. And now, just under a year later, it's quite ready to quietly be released and live the rest of its life out in the wild.

It's not exactly a surprise that the guy who created a serial killer tire movie "Rubber," and turned a lost dog into a surreal journey for his upcoming "Wrong," has gone ahead and put together yet another oddball goof. Quentin Dupieux keeps churning out the strange and weird, and his latest, "Wrong Cops" is yet another dip into the oddball. But wait, haven't you heard of this one for a while now? Well, yes...

How far would you go to have everything you ever wanted? That's the question at the heart of the upcoming comedy "The Brass Teapot," and for Michael Angarano and Juno Temple, taking a few hits to the body to keep the cash coming in seems to be worth it... at first.

Can anyone play gruff, grizzly, still kind of endearing but totally standoffish better than Tommy Lee Jones? For this writer, he pretty much walked away with Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" as the idealistic yet conflicted Thaddeus Stevens (equally awesome was James Spader, but that's for a whole different article). Not to knock the man's talents, but he does pretty much the same characterization in another war movie, the upcoming "Emperor," this time as General Douglas McArthur. And now the first trailer is here to show you what it's all about.

At one time, it seemed inconceivable that enfant terrible Harmony Korine would do anything close to courting the mainstream, let alone shoot a picture with folks like James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson. But after the awesomely lo-fi audience provocation "Trash Humpers," it seems kind of logical that Korine would make something to appeal to the folks who couldn't make it to the end of that movie. And so: "Spring Breakers." And get ready, because it's gonna get wet.

Sundance isn't all coming of age stories, biopics, documentaries and brain-scratching indies. Some entries are just there to thrill and entertain, and while the upcoming "S-VHS" won't be threatening anybody for awards, if this teaser trailer is anything to go by, it still be one that has everyone talking.

To say that we're rooting for Jeff Nichols would be an understatement. The helmer has delivered two great films so far, early into this career, "Shotgun Stories" and "Take Shelter." With the buzz growing around his name, he was able to snag Matthew McConaughey to star in his latest effort "Mud." After after premiering last spring at the Cannes Film Festival, the movie is ready to come home and make a U.S. premiere very soon at the Sundance Film Festival.

Remember when it was announced that Coldplay were co-financing a movie? No? Well, that was almost two years ago, and the fruits of their money's labor will now be seen in the finished product, "Ashes," a film noir that looks as confusing as it is generic, though it does boast Ray Winstone going blonde, "Memento"-style.
