Many months ago, on what began as a rainy morning in the hills of Sonoma, California, The Playlist -- part of a small contingent of press -- rolled up to the vineyard-turned-movie-set of this spring’s relationship dramedy “The Five-Year Engagement.” And over the course of what turned out to be a sunny and pleasant afternoon, met with the stars and filmmakers to talk about the film, as well as see first hand what has become the trademark directing style of helmer Nicholas Stoller. Previously behind comedies “Get Him to the Greek” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” Stoller has again teamed with co-writer and star Jason Segel to assemble another cast of funny folks, and let the cameras roll.

While his own films have yet to cross over the awards threshold, Oscar nominations for last year's "Bridesmaids" in the Original Screenplay and Supporting Actress categories signify a new respectability for the comedies of Judd Apatow, the man who more than any other is responsible for the rebirth of the genre in the last few years. Films like "Anchorman," "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Knocked Up" and "Superbad" have brought in the big bucks over the last few years, but now they seem to be getting legitimate respect from cinephiles, something that only seems to be continuing with the writer-director-producer's next film.

As the director of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and co-writer and director of “Get Him To The Greek,” Nicholas Stoller has found enormous success shepherding original ideas onto the silver screen. But when he decided to pair up with his ‘Sarah Marshall’ screenwriter and star Jason Segel for an update of “The Muppets,” he faced a considerable challenge, not only in handling a beloved property, but figuring out a way to reintroduce it to audiences who, unlike himself and Segel, might not automatically be as in love with Kermit and company.

He may not be a familiar name like Mark Mothersbaugh or Jon Brion, but Michael Andrews is quickly rising into a similar status. He has composed for a number of notable films including “Donnie Darko,” Miranda July's “Me and You and Everyone We Know,” "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," “Cyrus,” “Funny People” and most recently, "Bridesmaids." He most certainly got to know both Judd Apatow and Paul Feig back in the day when he lent his skills to both “Undeclared” and “Freaks and Geeks,” and he's set to reteam with the Apatow fold on yet another project.

Her face and name might not ring any bells but we've all pretty much seen her on screen and know who her parents are. Remember the girl who wakes up with Justin Timberlake's Sean Parker in his introduction in "The Social Network"? Well, she happens to be the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, and she's apparently going places around Hollywood with the model-turned-actress now scoring roles in three upcoming film projects.

For the last few years, Hollywood's holy grail has seemed to be the R-rated relationship comedy -- it seems that every other script on the annual Black List is an attempt at the genre, and the summer is stuffed with examples. But only this morning, with the trailer for "What's Your Number?," we've seen that things aren't as simple as taking the traditional romantic comedy template and liberally sprinkling the words "fuck" and "vagina" over it -- there's an alchemy to the blend of crudity and heart that few have mastered.
