With so many projects on the go at once, perhaps it's not surprising to hear Martin Scorsese share the following sentiment: "... I’ve never been on vacation. I began with my wife Helen. And with my daughter Francesca, who’s turning fourteen. Now I’m taking a break for a week, a week and a half. We might go and visit my wife’s family in Maine. But normally no, I don’t go on vacation. I work, I read, I go to dinner with friends, I listen to music," the director told Swide magazine as part of a wide ranging interview. But of course, it wouldn't be a discussion without talk of some of the many projects that are keeping him busy.

People are celebrating the release of glam metal musical "Rock Of Ages" this weekend in a number of ways: booking their opening night tickets, throwing Stacee Jaxx-themed parties, or sealing themselves in an underground bunker until it passes like Michael Shannon in "Take Shelter." Michael Fassbender, who's currently the toast of the town thanks to his excellent performance in "Prometheus," is celebrating in a different way.

While Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will be re-upping their bromance this summer, shooting the financial world drama "The Wolf Of Wall Street," one of the many brewing projects the director has bubbling in the background is his long gestasting biopic on the Chairman Of The Board, Frank Sinatra. Last we heard, powerhouse producer Scott Rudin ("The Social Network," "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") came on board last March and while the film had a script from Phil Alden Robinson (”Field Of Dreams,” “Sneakers”), the plan was to hunt for a new writer to take a stab at the material. And it seems those steps are being taken.

There's very little we can say about the indomitable Ol' Blue Eyes that hasn't already been said, but suffice it to say, Frank Sinatra is one of the most successful entertainers of all time, effortlessly transitioning back and forth between his music and acting careers.

Despite James Cameron's best intentions, for the most part, the 3D format has primarly been utilized as a cash grab by studios looking to pad out the bottom line in an era when box office receipts appear to be on the decline. However, 2011 marked a bit of a change. At the arthouse, Werner Herzog and Wim Wenders embraced 3D for their unique documentaries "Cave Of Forgotten Dreams" and "Pina" while Martin Scorsese brought true artistry to the format with "Hugo." One of the director's most visually dazzling efforts of his career, "Hugo" found Scorsese delivering a truly immersive 3D world, one that engaged the viewer without the need to make sure stuff is constantly flying at their face. And he may not yet be done working in three dimensions.

'Silence' Will Shoot Next, Followed By 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'It seems there is a small flurry of activity regarding a few brewing Martin Scorsese projects recently. This morning we reported that Robert De Niro revealed that "The Irishman" was still very much on the docket, though not a certainty just yet, and recently, the director's publicist told us that he was fully committed to shooting his long-gestating passion project "Silence" next (more on this in a second). But yet another project is now gained a little more traction.
