Director-producer-actor-rapper The RZA has both feet firmly planted in the film world with November’s “The Man With The Iron Fists,” but he’s certainly not planning on forgetting his roots anytime soon. Long in the works, RZA has long planned to adapt the life of fellow Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard to the screen, but it’s been years since there’s been movement. As it turns out, one of the reasons is that we’re getting not one, but two ODB films.

With all this talk of "The Avengers," "Dark Shadows," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Prometheus" it seems the sequel no one asked for, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" is getting left out of the conversation. But even if it's a movie that no one who bought a ticket for "G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra" was anticipating, it is looking like passable entertainment. After all, it has sword fighting on the side of a fucking mountain, so that has to count for something right?

File this piece of news deep within the "no shit, Sherlock" department – Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not be playing the Cobra Commander in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” Fans of the first film (that film has fans, right?) will remember that The Baroness’ (Sienna Miller) little brother Rex Lewis, who was assumed to have died in a mission, (SPOILER!!!!) was only the Cobra Commander all along. Well producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura spoke to Moviefone last month and has confirmed (as if anyone ever thought otherwise) that JGL will not be reprising his role.

For a while there in the early '90s, you couldn't escape hearing Aerosmith blasting out of every radio station from every car stereo across the nation. "Livin' On The Edge," "Crying," "Amazing" and "Crazy" marked a tremendous run for the band that was capped off by what is pretty much their last massive hit, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" for Michael Bay's "Armageddon" (and it should be noted the director also helmed the band's video for "Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)"). That was nearly fifteen years ago. And as the band fades in relevance (seriously, look at that picture) -- assisted by Steven Tyler's recent stint on "American Idol" -- they are hoping they can take one last stab at summer soundtrack glory.

Earlier today, producer/enemy of quality Neal Moritz confirmed what anyone with a brain and cursory knowledge of the box office charts of early 2011 was aware of: a sequel to "Green Hornet," his Michel Gondry-directed, Seth Rogen led superhero movie of last January, isn't happening any time soon. The film wasn't a giant flop -- it made a good-but-not-great $98 million domestically, part of a total $227 million worldwide haul. Not a bad number, but considering the movie cost $120 million plus whatever they poured into the extensive marketing campaign, the profit margin was likely razor thin.

Okay, listen. We were totally ready to write this off as "G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra" was a complete pile of shit. But goddamn it, enough of this trailer for the sequel "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" works that we're curious, with a very faint glimmer of optimism thrown in.
