Wait, who? While the name Frank Grillo might be not familiar yet, Hollywood has certainly taken a shine to the actor lately. Best known for his stint on the shortlived ABC series "The Gates" (or for his role as Jessup on the daytime soap "The Guiding Light") Grillo has been earning strong buzz for his role as Joel Edgerton's trainer in the upcoming "Warrior" and has already knocked out a performance in Stephen Frears' "Lay The Favorite." Well, Grillo is going to spend the rest of 2011 working on two high-profile pictures adding some serious meat to his scattered IMDB page.

Director Ruben Fleischer made a splash with his debut feature, the satirical genre film, "Zombieland." The surprise hit of summer 2009, the film grossed $102 million worldwide off a relatively low $23 million dollar budget. Not gangbusters numbers, but enough to jumpstart a career for Fleischer and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who would go on to score coveted (or high-paying) writing assignments like "Deadpool" and "G.I. Joe 2."

A hotly-tipped, Black List-ed script, by former L.A.P.D. cop Will Beall, based on a series of articles in the L.A. Times, the 1940s-set tale has been a priority at the studio for most of the year, and has been assembling one of the most promising casts in recent memory.

Come Christmas time, we hope Bryan Cranston gets something really nice for his agent because the actor has been lining up one solid film after another. Just yesterday, Cranston boarded Ben Affleck's "Argo" and barely twenty-four hours have passed and now he's on another high-profile project.

The "Zombieland" director is moving into more serious territory with Warner Brothers' big-budget period actioner, and has assembled a mouth-watering cast of awards bait, with Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and "Crash" star Michael Peña all confirmed for the film, written by ex-cop Will Beall, based on a series of L.A. Times articles about an L.A.P.D unit in the 1940s.
