Tied to the widespread, sporadically successful anti-virus software, the name McAfee was for a long time thought to be just that: a lucrative company putting out a popular product. The past few years have altered that perception, however, as a searing wave of outlandish antics tied to founder John McAfee have just come to light, a development that Hollywood naturally wants to see brought to the big screen.

Warner Bros Create Pixar-Style Brain Trust For Animated Films, Includes Phil Lord & Chris Miller, Nicholas Stoller And More

This was bound to happen, we're mostly just surprised it didn't happen sooner. You would think that with Pixar's long-standing track record of proving that originality, high standards and creative vision can produce results that please both audiences and critics, rival studios would copycat their Brain Trust structure. As much a part of their brand as the lamp in their logo, Pixar's Brain Trust -- a collection of writers, directors and more -- routinely look at in-progress projects, break them down, pick them apart and build them back up again, all to create the best movie possible. Animated movies take years to make, and yet the Brain Trust won't see one to completion unless it rigorously passes muster (though that doesn't explain "Cars 2"). At any rate, Warner Bros. is going to give the concept a shot.

Pairing up hot young things Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in a movie together is a no brainer, and Warner Bros. has done it twice already, first with last summer's hit comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and then in the upcoming (and now undated) "Gangster Squad." And if 'Crazy' directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa get their way, the studio will once again reunite the duo.

Warner Bros. is likely already dreaming up the marketing materials for this one: From The People Who Brought You "Crazy Stupid Love" & "Moneyball" -- has a nice ring to it doesn't it? With 'Crazy' already taking over $115 million worldwide and "Moneyball" opening to $20 million and chasing an Oscar, WB isn't wasting anytime in getting talents from those two pictures together.

Directing Duo Turned Down 'Bad Santa 2'While the third act plot twist to "Crazy Stupid Love" is hugely contrived and runs against the careful blend of comedy and drama that runs through everything before, the nicely crafted tone from directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and the engaging performances from their ensemble cast led by Steve Carell, made it easy overlook some of the things that didn't work. And it seems the experience was a good one for the lead actor and the directors alike, as they are planning another film together, albeit one that Carell will produce but not star in.

We know it's pretty much the heart of the summer, but if you have plans to spend the last weekend of July doing anything other than sit in a movie theater, you might want to consider rearranging them. On one of the busiest release dates in recent memory, there seems to be something for everyone: blockbuster fans get "Cowboys & Aliens," lovers of cult films get "Attack the Block," those who like "Scarface"-esque dramas with breakout lead performances get Dominic Cooper in "The Devil's Double," indie types get Miranda July's "The Future" or Brendan Gleeson in sweary Irish action-comedy "The Guard," subtitle-philes get French thriller "Point Blank," documentary fans get "El Bulli" and "Life in a Day," and people who hate their kids get "The Smurfs."

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are no strangers to wantonly pushing buttons. They broke out in a huge way after "Bad Santa," which they wrote and Terry Zwigoff directed, turned into a surprise R-rated comedy hit. They quickly followed that up by penning the script for Richard Linklater's "Bad News Bears" and then made their directorial debut with "I Love You Phillip Morris," an outrageous gay romcom starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. While that film is only finally getting released this month in the U.S. thanks to a string of distribution woes this year, the duo soldiered on undeterred and has the Steve Carell-led comedy "Stupid. Crazy. Love." set to hit next spring. But if you've been waiting for the duo to get their "Bad Santa" mojo back, now is your time.

After being delayed for nearly a year thanks to distributor woes and legal wrangling, the directorial debut of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (the writers behind "Bad Santa" and directors of the upcoming "Crazy Stupid Love") finally arrives on North American shores. And though the film is not as outrageous as it premise teases, "I Love You Phillip Morris" is mostly a pleasantly diverting comedy that goes very far south in its go-for-broke final act.
