You might have forgotten or blocked it from your memory, but earlier this year news surfaced that Warner Bros. was in negotiations with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment to reboot "Gremlins." Why? Just because and probably because it's a property that people know and has yet to be scorched and fully exploited for all its franchise potential. Rumors of a "Gremlins 3" had been floating for years and Joe Dante shot them down, but at any rate, it looks like they're just gonna go down the do-over route, though the name they've enlisted to help produce doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Oh please, let's not pretend be shocked anymore. Yet another beloved childhood movie that many grew up with and was near and dear to our hearts is being tossed into the possible reboot/remake mill. Just don't feed it after midnight.

Not only did they get "Ghostbusters" in theaters that day (as we've already looked at, but they also got "Gremlins," the subversive PG-rated horror-comedy from the A-list trio of writer Chris Columbus, director Joe Dante and producer Steven Spielberg.
