With the summer tentpoles already beginning to reach theaters, many actors are now nabbing jobs to secure themselves through the end of the year and into the next. Here's a rundown of the upcoming roles that have been inked in the last couple of days.

By Ryan Sartor. Deborah Ann Woll, Hailee Steinfeld and Dave Franco have received offers to star in the Fox 2000 period comedy “Rosaline,” Variety reports. The title refers to the woman Romeo was fixated on at the beginning of “Romeo and Juliet” before falling in love with the one who died beside him. The film will be told from Rosaline’s point-of-view and set in 16th century Verona using modern language, a scenario that will no doubt drive Baz Luhrmann purists up a wall—and annoy a few Shakespeare fans as well. 14-year-old Steinfeld would be playing Juliet, with 26-year-old Franco taking on the role of Romeo and Woll as Rosaline. Creepy age difference aside, the film is a great opportunity for all three actors to show they can carry a movie—though some would argue Steinfeld already proved that with “True Grit.” The project is waiting to receive a greenlight from the studio, so no deals have been made and everything regarding the production is tentative. And as you might remember, the filmmakers tried to get Keira Knightley and Lily Collins during the summer to no avail and we'd reckon a thumbs up to start filming will be determined by getting a cast in place first.

For the young Hailee Steinfeld, the Oscar-nominated star of "True Grit," the world is her oyster. While Jennifer Lawrence has quickly turned Oscar glory into a lead role in a major franchise with "The Hunger Games," Steinfeld hasn't been in quite a rush to decide on what's next. She, too, was briefly mentioned as a possible contender for a role in “The Hunger Games,” got attached to the tween “Memento”-like film “Forgotten” and was part of a Sleeping Beauty movie pitch that went around Hollywood, but no decisions had been made. But now, the young thesp looks booked in one of the oldest tales of them all.

The big question surrounding Hailee Steinfeld right now is: what next? The actress broke out in a huge way with "True Grit," snagging an Oscar nomination, but more importantly kicking open doors of opportunity in Hollywood. She was briefly mentioned as a possible contender for a role in "The Hunger Games" and got attached to the tween "Memento"-like film "Forgotten." But it looks like the team around the actress want to parlay her success into tentpole fare.

We're getting older, and we're no longer afraid to admit that. However, it does come with certain disadvantages. Our ears have aged to that point that we're now unable to hear Justin Bieber's voice, for instance. We were offered a role in a Neal Moritz-produced remake of "Cocoon" the other day. And, perhaps most importantly for this profession, we can no longer distinguish the various young-adult-novel properties that are vying to replace "Twilight" as the teen-franchise-du-jour.

The Coen Brothers were blessed with a staggering array of talent for their excellent "True Grit" but none of it would've worked were it not for the astounding turn by Hailee Steinfeld. In her first feature film role, Steinfeld shone as the determined Mattie, by turns stubborn and naive, unstoppable and vulnerable. The actress ably performed against some of the most truly talented thesps including Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, so no surprise that Paramount are eager to keep the on-the-rise actress under their roof.

"The King's Speech" sits on the throne this morning, earning 12 Oscar nominations and looking like the film to beat at the 83rd Academy Awards, while "True Grit" follows with 10 nods and "The Social Network" with 8. Not much in the way of shockers this year, but some pleasant surprises in the mix as well as few snubs.

Judging by some of the early reviews of "True Grit" you would think that the Coens had left their bag of tricks at home when making the film, delivering a respectful if overly formal western. However, it seems those reviewers who got an early look forgot that the Coens are often found at the height of their creative powers when operating with a genre milieu. Take "Miller's Crossing," "The Hudsucker Proxy" or "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" -- all films with giant nods to filmmakers of yore, yet each imbued with the Coens' own distinctive thematic obsessions: this all continues with "True Grit." Wickedly funny, undeniably compelling and yes, touched with a less cynical heart than some of their most recent efforts (though hardly "sentimental" as some critics have suggested) the picture finds the Coens pushing all their usual techniques to the fore, while at the same time keeping them constrained by the genre they're working within and for most part, it works wonderfully.

While all the Oscar prognosticators are spit shining "The Fighter" this week and trumpeting it as the Best Picture winner, that sentiment will pretty much change next week when "True Grit" starts screening en masse and every crystal ball awards season genie will switch up their tune.
