Hans Zimmer
"Quite honestly, I’ve gotta sit down with Zack [Snyder] and have a chat with him about what he’s trying to do because what I don’t want to do is go back to that well," Hans Zimmer said last fall, when asked if would return to score "Batman Vs. Superman." "It’s a different Batman; Christian Bale and what I did with Chris, that needs to have its autonomous life. I don’t want to go and now appropriate that and put that into the other Batman.”

Hans Zimmer is one of the most in demand composers at the moment, and with that busy schedule, he's called in collaborators to help bring his work to life. The forthcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" score will feature Zimmer working alongside Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski, Steve Mazzaro and Incubus member Mike Einzinger. But that process can sometimes bring into question who is the real writer or author of the score, occasionally creating a minor controversy when it comes to credit (please see the "Inception" BRAAAM debate). But for Zimmer as long as it's his idea, he believes who helps execute that vision comes secondary.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
As witnessed with both “Qui-Gon’s Funeral” and just recently with a certain track in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier," soundtrack listings can spell a film out before its release or simply obscure its plotline further. Comic book adaptations have to be on the ball in this regard, and even though they’re determined to show every corner of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in trailers, Sony are playing quite coy with Hans Zimmer’s score.

SXSW: In the vaults from indie-filmmaker to tentpole blockbusting director, Marc Webb took one of the biggest jumps in recent memory. He started his feature-length filmmaking career with 2009’s inventive and quirky “(500) Days Of Summer” and then made the quantum leap to “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Oscars, Score, 2013
This week sees the arrival of Disney's "Frozen," the studio's most acclaimed film in years. It's also a serious throwback to the studio's animated musicals of the late 1980s and 1990s, a full-on songfest with multiple numbers of Broadway quality, and that's useful for our purposes, because this week we're going to focus on the musical categories of the Academy Awards.

Hans Zimmer
Once Hollywood finds a motif they like for movie trailers, they stick with it. Clint Mansell's "Lux Æterna" from "Requiem for a Dream" and John Murphy's "Sunshine (Adagio in D Minor)" are just a couple of score pieces that seem to get trotted out every couple months for yet another piece of advertising. And recently, another selection has joined those ranks: the BRAAMS created by Hans Zimmer for Christopher Nolan's "Inception." In fact, we even pointed out 10 Trailers That Use & Abuse that sound. But how does the composer himself feel about it?
