In case anyone was feeling too happy, the potential ruin of the human race is out in full celebratory regalia this weekend. Inescapable hit men, broken education systems, a Puritan-era killing machine, and a grifting mommy make up just a taste of the gleeful subject matter. And – for a lift – documentaries are here in spades this week as well, particularly those showcasing major political and social issues. And sports. Sometimes. Oh, is there an election soon? Or are we just gearing up for basketball season? Enjoy, movie lovers!

The hitman genre has been done to death. If cinema can be a reflection of the times we live in, and a recorded piece of history of what the filmmakers are concerned with at the time of inception and production, then it’s amazing any of us are still alive. When done well, the genre can be a lot of fun – as well as dramatic, escapist, cool and artful – but there’s just too many professional killers running amok in the movies.

Suggests His Penis Might Be Bigger Than Sylvester Stallone'sWe'd understand if you haven't been keeping up with all the internecine workings of the forthcoming Walter Hill directed, Sylvester Stallone starring "Headshot" but here's the quick rundown. First, Wayne Kramer was going to direct before he was bounced for Hill and then back in April, Thomas Jane was cast in the co-starring role in the film. However, a couple of months later, Sung Kang was suddenly announced as the new actor who would be playing opposite Stallone, amid rumors that new producer Joel Silver was giving the film a racial makeover. Turns out that was true.

"Game of Thrones" hasn't just been one of the best series of the just-finished TV seasons, one that improved week-on-week, but it also proved to be a big hit, increasing its audience by nearly 40% between its premiere and its finale on Sunday. The survivors are set to get going on a second season in July, but it's undoubtedly given a career boost to everyone involved, even those who were gruesomely dispatched across the first season.

Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment Producing; Film Begins Shooting Later This MonthIt seemed to make sense that Sylvester Stallone would reach out to Thomas Jane to co-star in the film formerly-titled "Headshot" as both were macho brawlers with a significant age difference. The thriller, from director Walter Hill, was to match Stallone as a professional killer with Jane the young cop who must collaborate with the hitman to solve a massive conspiracy. And then Dark Castle and superproducer Joel Silver got involved. And looks like Silver he threw his weight around, claiming a Dark Castle mandate for racially mixed lead cast members, so Jane is out, and the handsome, charismatic Sung Kang is in.

Old school action fans, Sylvester Stallone hears your pleas. Most likely he took criticism of his direction regarding "The Expendables" to heart, announcing he would not be directing the sequel. Now he's fulfilling their wishes by teaming up with one of the most respected action directors of all time. After a few early negotiations, Walter Hill will be directing Stallone in "Headshot."

Hard to believe that over the course of their red meat-eatin' action careers, Sylvester Stallone and Walter Hill never crossed paths. Hill has directed the likes of Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and the immortal James Remar, but not once has he been associated with the headstrong star of "Rocky," "Rambo" and "The Expendables." That may change as Hill may be climbing aboard "Headshots," the action picture starring Stallone which was left orphaned after director Wayne Kramer exited over creative differences.
