Man Of Steel
Because a cloak of secrecy continues to be held over "Man Of Steel," if you want to see anything new from the movie you have to keep your eyes open and an ear to the ground for the slightest morsel. Well, two such morsels have arrived in the last day or so, bringing bits and bobs of new footage.

Man Of Steel
It’s a new day, so you know what that means: a “Man Of Steel” update. From the very beginning we’ve heard how much more grounded and serious Zack Snyder’s take on the iconic character would be -- he recently called it his “most realistic” film -- and while many chalked it up to Christopher Nolan’s influence (he's an executive producer on the movie and his name gets plenty of play in the trailers), Superman himself sets the record straight.

Man of Steel, Superman
While we're still a way off from anything on the verdict for the actual movie, the marketing for "Man Of Steel" continues to be the best of the summer so far. Everyone on the Warner Bros. team is leaning on selling an epic experience and this latest TV spot is now different.

Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill
Over the weekend when the "Man Of Steel" viral hit -- "revealing" Michael Shannon's General Zod threatening the Earth -- some uber nerds complained that he was speaking perfect English and didn't have a Kryptonian accent or anything, proving that people will complain about anything. But for the rest of us, "Man Of Steel" is hopefully going to be the superhero highlight (we hope) of the summer, a movie that will flex both brains and brawn and this evening, a brand new trailer has arrived.

Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill
Entertainment Weekly's summer movies issues is on stands right now and it's, as per usual, a rather powerhouse edition. You've seen the "Man Of Steel" EW cover and images from the Superman film as directed by Zack Snyder ("300," "Watchmen"), written by David S. Goyer ("The Dark Knight" trilogy) and godfathered/executive produced by Christopher Nolan. But the excellent article dives deeper into the themes and texture to the movie, which sounds much moodier and existential than any Superman movie before it. While not going as dark as "The Dark Knight" films, it seems that Nolan, Snyder and Goyer have done what they set out to do: put Superman into a modern context and thus affect moral dilemmas into the hero that we've never seen before. Here's 5 quick things we learned.

Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill
As per the madness and method Christopher Nolan employs we're about two months away from the scheduled release date of "Man Of Steel" and there has been precious little given away in terms of official photos or plot details. Thus far, all we've had to go by are the somewhat operatic trailers (they are pretty damn good), so at some point pretty soon Warner Bros. is going to have the final big push to get non-nerds out in numbers to see this. With that in mind, Entertainment Weekly has just published their summer issue and along with a smattering of new images -- including a pretty fierce one of Michael Shannon's General Zod -- there are a few surprising revelations about the movie.

There will probably be no movie this summer with a marketing campaign as controlled as the one for "Man Of Steel." Why? Two words: Christopher Nolan. The executive producer seems to be bringing this Batman levels of secrecy to the movie, with the plot still pretty much under lock and key, and with only a couple of trailers appearing so far. As for official stills? We've been reduced to magazine scans as Warner Bros. keeps everything in their vault for now, so the pics below will have to suffice.

There are two schools of though on movie marketing when it comes to blockbusters: carpet bomb the fuck out of the advertising or play it close to the chest. 20th Century Fox tends to do the former, as campaigns for "X-Men: First Class" and "Prometheus" bear witness. But Christopher Nolan and co. take the latter approach, with each move carefully coordinated with the precision of a hit squad. So yes, this is not much more than a magazine cover, but it's a new look at Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel," so we'll take what we can get.

It seems everyone wants a piece of Joseph Gordon-Levitt these days. The actor was rumored to play Batman in "Justice League," is on the ever growing list of contenders for "Guardians Of The Galaxy," is hosting the Sundance awards later this month, and now has another franchise being tossed across his very messy desk. Needless to say, dude has options.
