Brilliance Will Smith
Having just wrapped on the Glenn Ficarra/John Requa comedy “Focus,” it looks like Will Smith is ready to give the sci-fi genre another chance. He’s in talks to lead “Brilliance,” which is based on the Marcus Sakey novel of the same name. In a world where one percent of all children are born as “brilliants,” Will Smith plays federal agent Nick Cooper, a fellow brilliant who’s especially gifted at hunting down terrorists. But in order to track down a brilliant that’s been deemed the most dangerous man alive, Cooper will have to violate everything he believes in.

So this is happening, and I guess you better just just deal with it. The story of "Bonnie & Clyde," immortalized in Arthur Penn's iconic 1967 film, is now being told again by Bruce Beresford ("Peace, Love & Misunderstanding," "Mao's Last Dancer" and "The Contract") with Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as the outlaws. The results?

Gotta admit, we sort of totally forgot about this movie entirely. After playing TIFF to rather muted notice last fall, and being released all over the place elsewhere in the world, Mike Newell's "Great Expectations" is finally seeing release in stateside theaters. And well, it's certainly very costume drama-esque as you might expect.

They say when one door closes another opens, but it seems that for Brit actress Holliday Grainger, she's got more than the one door to choose from. While the actress is probably best known stateside for her turn as Lucrezia Borgia in the recently canceled "The Borgias," she's quietly been racking up appearances in stuff like Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina," Cary Fukunaga's "Jane Eyre," Mike Newell's "Great Expectations" and more. Now it looks as though she'll be donning yet more elaborate period costumes.

Well, at least it's not Miley Cyrus, right? Lifetime is teaming with History Channel who are looking to continue the miniseries success they had with "Hatfields & McCoys" (true story: this writer couldn't make it past the first part) with another tale of outlaws and young love. That's right, "Bonnie & Clyde" are getting ready to ride again, and as much as we frown at this idea, the two leads are actually some pretty decent choices.

It's the centenary year of famed author Charles Dickens and he's having a bit of a moment. The writer was dipped into the world of fanboys when Christopher Nolan revealed during press rounds for "The Dark Knight Rises" that "A Tale Of Two Cities" was an influence on the Batman film, while it seems filmmakers are falling over themselves to bring "Great Expectations" to the big screen. Again. Last year, Brit viewers got a miniseries starring Ray Winstone and Gillian Anderson, and now, less than twelve months later, another take on the story is on the way.
