Horrible Bosses 2
"Horrible Bosses" was a fantastic concept. Get three strong comedians (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis), give them brutally bad bosses and cast them with some pretty big Hollywood names we don't often see playing these types of characters (Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell and Kevin Spacey—who we now know as the horrible politician from “House Of Cards,” but it had been a long time since he’d played someone so heartless and cruel).

Judy Greer has joined the cast of Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Rosemarie DeWitt and Cameron Diaz in the story of junior high age kids and their parents, living in the era of the interwebs.

"Horrible Bosses 2" is a thing that is happening mostly because the first film, surprisingly, took in over $200 million worldwide. It seemed audiences loved bad wigs and famous people playing mean bosses, because the movie itself wasn't so hot. But the concept is an easy sell and if they can recruit more people to gleefully give Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman a hard time, this thing will market itself.

Horrible Bosses
The Toronto International Film Festival is upon us, and with it flurries of announcements like the snows of the Canadian summer (or something), with new projects being lined up for original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" director Niels Arden Oplev, an Elvis Presley biopic for "Last King of Scotland" director Kevin MacDonald, the "We're the Millers" team of Sean Anders and John Morris, "The Disappearance of Alice Creed" director J Blakeson, while a big screen adaptation of Emma Donoghue's best-selling coming-of-age novel "Room" inches closer to fruition.

We have to be honest, we kinda forgot that this was an actual thing that was really happening. You might have remembered that earlier this year, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis all signed up to return for "Horrible Bosses 2," with original helmer Seth Gordon ready to direct. Nothing has really been heard about the movie since, but it seems everything is moving along to shoot this fall (which perhaps explains why Sudeikis finally left "Saturday Night Live"), but now it needs, well, a boss.

In the works for a while now, "Horrible Bosses 2" seemed inevitable. The first film – great concept, pretty dull execution – powered its way to over $200 million worldwide. So no surprise that at the beginning of 2012, word first started burbling about a sequel, and by the summer, Seth Gordon was being offered the director's chair to return. Well, he's back, as are the three principal leads.

Even though it managed to break the $200 million barrier at the box office on a $35 million budget, the cold critical reception that greeted Seth Gordon's "Horrible Bosses" saw it fall short of the bar raised by other recent summer comedy blockbusters like "The Hangover" and "Bridesmaids." That performance, however, will evidently be more than enough for New Line to work with, as the wheels are now well and truly in motion on a sequel to the 2011 pic.

'Horrible Bosses' To Get A Sequel, Hopefully With Jokes This Time

While everyone likes to trumpet the summer success stories of "The Hangover Part II" and "Bridesmaids," one other R-rated comedy fared quite well also, though it hasn't been mentioned as often. "Horrible Bosses" was also a super-sized smash, with the workplace comedy scoring over $200 million worldwide, all on a minimal budget of $35 million. It seems people really like to see bosses getting their commeupance. Well, fans will be happy to know, the trio of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will once again face unruly employers as New Line is moving ahead with a sequel.
