With Emily Mortimer recently telling us the film was a "hymn to the imagination," and the picture creating some very strong buzz thanks to its recent surprise screening at the New York Film Festival where we said it was an "enchanting fairy tale," we have to say that while we definitely encourage people to see Martin Scorsese's "Hugo", the first trailer and now this most recent, aren't doing much to instill excitement.

New Poster For 'Hugo' UnveiledIf you looked up the word “versatile” in the dictionary, Emily Mortimer’s picture might be next to it: for almost two decades now, she’s amassed a truly amazing range of films, from period pieces (“Elizabeth”) to romantic comedies (“Notting Hill”) to horror sequels (“Scream 3”) to indie dramas (“Lovely & Amazing”) to popcorn adventures (“The Pink Panther”) and so much more. But after playing a role in Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” and following that up with voiceover work as Holly Shiftwell in “Cars 2,” it seems like she’s relishing the chance to reach younger moviegoers, at least evidenced by her work in Scorsese’s family-friendly odyssey “Hugo.”

Filmmaker Introduces Work-In-Progress 3D Film At Surprise New York Film Festival ScreeningWhat else could it have been? When Monday's New York Film Festival "secret" screening was announced last week, speculation went into overdrive. Most missed the fact that the picture would be a 2011 release which greatly narrowed down the field. Clint Eastwood's "J.Edgar"? The NYFF/Eastwood relationship is a close one, but the picture is already promised to the AFI festival in early November. David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" was another big theory, but that film's still in the editing room. That left either Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" or one of Steven Spielberg's fall pictures, but considering Scorsese already debuted his George Harrison doc this month, it seemed rather obvious, even before the secret was unveiled this afternoon.

Speculation has been rife over the last couple of days among Big Apple-based film fans as to the possible identity of the secret screening that the New York Film Festival added to their program as a last-minute surprise last week. The festival narrowed it down a little, saying that the film was a "work-in-progress" from a "master filmmaker" for a film that would be released before the end of the 2011, so it left only a few contenders. Could it be David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?" Stephen Daldry's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close?" Mike Mitchell's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked?"

Even though it has been quite a while since the first trailer for Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" dropped this summer, it appears that with the movie coming next month, a new wave of marketing is unfolding. Just a couple of days ago, some new pics surfaced online centered on Ben Kingsley and Jude Law, and now courtesy of the latest issue of Empire, a few more snaps from the movie have been revealed.

It has been a while since we've seen anything from Martin Scorsese's upcoming 3D family adventure "Hugo." Granted, the director has been busy executive producing "Boardwalk Empire," putting the finishing touches on the massive documentary "George Harrison: Living In The Material World" as well as editing Kenneth Lonergan's "Margaret." However, the first trailer for the film was released in July and is now somewhat of a distant memory, but with the movie gearing up to land next month the marketing campaign is likely just moments away from starting in full swing.

And Five We're Worried About/DreadingWith the Toronto International Film Festival now over, the dust is beginning to settle on 2011 and we're moving into the final stage of the fall movie season. Many, if not most, of autumn's Oscar season big hitters have now been revealed, leaving principally commercial fare, and a few prestige-y films that are rushing towards completion. As ever, the benefits of opening your Christmas presents early is a mixed bag; it means that we're able to firmly recommend some big fall films, movies like "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," "Shame" and "We Need To Talk About Kevin." It means we can also tell you to be wary of the likes of "W.E." and "Butter."

More Photos From 'Dragon Tattoo,' 'MI4,' 'We Bought A Zoo,' 'The Muppets,' 'Breaking Dawn' & More"The Rum Diary" starring Johnny Depp has been in the can for what feels like two years now, but there's a reason for the delay apparently. ''You can't open it next to some blockbuster thing,'' Depp told EW in their Fall Film Preview issue. ''It's a special little film.'' While we've seen photos of Depp as the writer Paul Kemp who works at a Puerto Rico newspaper in the '50s-set adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's early novel, this is our first look at Amber Heard in the picture. The director is Bruce Robinson of "Withnail & I" fame? Wait, who? Exactly. Robinson hasn't directed a feature since "Jennifer Eight" in 1992, but as he told EW, "Johnny's one of the few stars who can [handpick] who they want to direct a movie." And what's one of Depp's favorite movies? Well, the debauched and depraved "Withnail & I" so there you have it. The picture also stars Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins and it hits theaters on October 28.

In recent years, we've seen 3D films done by the likes of James Cameron, Michael Bay and botched by others we won't bother naming, but none of us have seen a 3D movie, a family adventure film no less, by Martin Scorsese. And so the trailer for his upcoming film, "Hugo" (formerly known as "Hugo Cabret") has hit and we must say it looks pretty damn wonderful, thrilling and charming (vibrant use of music too, though that doesn't sound like composer Howard Shore's work; he wrote the score).
