While some actors take great care in how they appear on screen, shying away from roles in which their faces may be disfigured or seen in a less than glamorous light, don't try and sell that philosophy to Aaron Eckhart. The actor had no hesitation in watching half his face get eaten away in "The Dark Knight" and how he's set to take another big league role in a film that won't exactly let his chiseled features shine.

Comedy 'I, Macrobane' With Nick Frost Will Follow In 2012Perhaps the biggest homegrown hit of Empire Big Screen over the weekend was Ben Wheatley's "Kill List," a low-budget hitman/horror flick from the director of the excellent, terminally underseen crime film "Down Terrace." More than perhaps any other British film that had footage shown, the clips had people talking for much of the weekend, and director Ben Wheatley hit the event on Saturday, along with stars Neil Maskell and MyAnna Buring, to get the buzz going. If you've read our review from SXSW, you'll know that it's a film worth getting very excited about (it even made one member of The Playlist team physically ill -- in a good way), and it crystallizes Wheatley as a real talent to watch.

Network Also Planning Miniseries Version Of 'I, Claudius'Every so often, a documentary comes along that seems ripe for feature adaptation, and, as usual, it's snapped up speedily by studio executives. But for the most part ("Dogtown & Z-Boys" becoming "Lords of Dogtown" being the only exception we can really think of), the remakes never quite make it on to screens -- feature version of "The King of Kong," "Racing Dreams" and many others languish in development hell.

While we definitely have given Tyler Perry his fair share of grief around here, the writer/director/actor/producer is certainly ready move on from the hugely successful niche he's carved out and try something with broader appeal, so we commend him for that. He's set to topline "I, Alex Cross" a thriller that has already attracted Matthew Fox and Ed Burns to the cast and now another a towering legend of French cinema is on the way too.

Writer Stuart Beattie knows his way around a blockbuster. With films like "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "30 Days of Night," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and "Australia" under his belt, Beattie certainly has a handle on big screen spectacles and genre fare -- and he's about to tackle one of cinema's most famed monsters of all time.

You may have forgotten, but Tyler Perry is making strides outside of films that he writes and directs and just a couple of months ago, he stepped in the lead role in "I, Alex Cross" taking over for Idris Elba (and thus, killing our interest in the movie). Anyway, casting is gearing up and two names have joined the film.

It's not often that you hear of a cast member joining a film after it has wrapped, but we'll take it as it comes.
