Tarsem Says His Greek Gods Epic Is More "Hardcore" Than The Trailers SuggestPlaylist scribe Kimber Myers down at Comic-Con 2011 sounds both confounded and dazzled from the footage of filmmaker Tarsem Singh's "Immortals" that she and countless other fans saw this afternoon at the convention's hallowed Hall H. To wit: "The footage is fucking insane and gorgeous," she writes. "It might be a mess, but it could be the best use of 3D you've seen."

Forgive the quips, but we're tired and Comic-Con hasn't even started yet. With San Diego -- a whale's vagina -- set to become nerd heaven for next few days, there will posters, pics and more. So pour some Red Bull into your eyeballs, because the first batch starts here with Relativity dropping some visual bombs to kick things off.

So, you want to premiere a trailer for a movie about a bunch of greased-up ripped dudes from mythology who do battle with mystical bows and arrows and can fly and stuff. Why not give it to...Ryan Seacrest?

Warner Bros, DreamWorks, Disney & The Weinstein Company Pass On San Diego; Marvel On The FenceThe comic/geek crowd are either the most important group to court for genre films or their influence is overstated; it really depends on who you ask. In recent years, the very vocal contingent has generally been thought of as essential to making sure more challenging or niche fare finds an audience or least makes its budget back, but a series of disappointments and flops have the studios reconsidering. Last year, Edgar Wright's "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" was met with widespread geek acclaim only for the Universal film to sputter at the box office (though to be fair, the marketing for that film did little to embrace anybody outside the core of fans). "Sucker Punch" got major buzz and died on the vine this past spring, while "Tron: Legacy" played modestly despite nerds flipping for footage that Disney teased as early as 2008 (though yes, it has done enough to convince the studio get a sequel moving). And both "Skyline" and "Let Me In" faltered when they hit screens later in the year, after doing the San Diego Comic-Con rounds.

The teaser trailer for Tarsem's "Immortals" has been unveiled on E! News with their signature, annoying voice over and, while only a bootleg version is available so far, it seemingly exhibits a highly-stylized swords-and-sandals pic very much in the vein of Zack Snyder's "300."

Producer Mark Canton Delivers Swipe At James Cameron For 3D In 'Sanctum'All old school (or even semi-old school in this case) Hollywood producers are awesome (see Jerry Weintraub for a recent example). Mostly because they've been around the block often enough that they're simply too old to mince words or bother with a diplomacy filter.

At the end of last week, Relativity announced that Lily Collins had landed the plum role in Tarsem Singh's upcoming take on Snow White (formerly known as "Brothers Grimm: Snow White"). The actress broke out in 2009 opposite Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side" and has lined up a number of high profile upcoming films including the Taylor Lautner thriller "Abduction" as well "Mortal Instruments." But for Tarsem, who we caught up with at WonderCon where he was promoting the forthcoming "Immortals," maybe it was something else entirely that captured his attention.
