Opening up on 3,952 screens DreamWorks Animation’s 3D "Puss In Boots," a spin-off of the popular and lucrative "Shrek" series, was always going to do well. Even critics were on board this time (an 81% RT score), including our own positive Playlist review. However, competing with Halloween and Halloween parties is tough. Add on top of that an unexpected winter squall hitting the East Coast this weekend and numbers were much lower than any “Shrek” picture so far. But everything’s relative, even the seemingly low “Puss In Boots” $34 million opening set a Halloween weekend record, besting the $33.6 million record that “Saw III” set in 2006.

Um, WHAT? There is no horror movie opening this weekend. WHO WILL FILL THE SAW VOID??? I know we got “Paranormal Activity 3” last weekend, but it is decidedly abnormal for no big budget horror to be opening on October goddamn 28th. Are we on the decline of a cycle? Is everyone getting their yayas out at those horrible haunted house places? Think piece coming soon! In the meantime, check out our foreign horror feature for all your cinematic creepy crawlies. And, if you’re not in the Halloween spirit, here are some other films for you to enjoy: the long awaited “The Rum Diary”! “Puss in Boots,” for the children. And time as money movie “In Time” with lots of pretty humans.

Review: Nonsensical 'In Time' Will Waste Your Precious Hours & Minutes

"In Time" is the kind of movie that literally kills off its most interesting thematic element and character about 10 minutes into the picture. To bring you up to speed, Andrew Niccol's latest sci-fi venture takes place in a future world where everyone is genetically programmed to stop aging at 25 years old, and moreover, time is used as currency. But that's not all. In addition to being able to buy everything from coffee to cars to prostitutes with the hour and minutes displayed glaringly in a digital readout on your forearm, once it runs out, you die right on the spot. A class system has emerged, of course, with the "rich" gaining virtual immortality and living the high life in an enclosed city, while the "poor" are left scrapping for enough time to stay alive in their derelict ghetto.

Details of two soundtracks coming at you in a second. The first is "In Time," the sci-fi picture directed by "Gattaca" filmmaker Andrew Niccol. Starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer and Olivia Wilde. The cast is solid, but by the looks of various trailers, the jury is still out. Yes, Niccol engendered almost endless amounts of goodwill for the sci-fi pic "Gattaca," but that was more than 10 years ago. "S1m0ne" was ungood to say the least, and "Lord of War" was... well, there.

The lawyers for sci-fi author Harlan Ellison must have a pretty nice gig, because he likes to sue. In fact, he likes it so much his Wikipedia page has a section dedicated to the various lawsuits he has filed over the years against everything from "The Terminator" to AOL. Well, Ellison is at it again and this time he has upcoming flick "In Time" in his sights.

In "In Time" Matt Bomer is really sick of being 105 years old and ridiculously good looking so he decides to kill himself. If you can buy that, then perhaps you'll have no problem with the latest from dierctor Andrew Niccol.

With a Comic-Con sizzle reel, a trailer, and now another trailer hitting for Andrew Niccol's "In Time," we're beginning to wonder if Fox's marketing department is having trouble figuring out how to sell this thing.

It seems in the not-so-distant future, assholes still rule. Anyway, after dropping a wealth of footage at Comic-Con, it seems Fox wants to give away as much of this movie as possible before it hits theaters (reminiscent of their campaign for "X-Men: First Class"), so now barely one week later, we now have a trailer for the increasingly silly looking "In Time."

Comic-Con, full swing, check. 20th Century Fox's "In Time," the new sci-fi film by "Gattaca" director Andrew Niccol just released an official first look photo of its stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried earlier this week, and with the picture doing the hawk-and-sell rounds at the Con, it's only natural that more assets are hitting.
