With Harrison Ford temporarily out of action (the latest rumors are that while he recovers from the ankle injury he suffered on the set of "Episode VII," he could be filmed from the waist up, although that could also be because he's refusing to wear pants, a la Marlon Brando in "The Score"), it's undoubtedly going to be causing problems on the set of J.J. Abrams' new "Star Wars" movie. But in the meantime, Hollywood are already looking for a potential Harrison Ford replacement, because there's supposedly an Indiana Jones reboot in the offing, and a "Star Wars" spin-off focusing on Han Solo, and the 71-year-old Ford is almost certainly too old to star in either.

Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark
As the wait continues for "Star Wars: Episode 7," it's probably a good time to take a look back and how we all got here, and that's what Entertainment Weekly has done. A new piece from the magazine dives into the journey of Harrison Ford, who has long, long said he had zero interest in ever playing Han Solo again...only to play Han Solo again in J.J. Abrams' film. A prickly interview subject at best, the actor tells it straight when it comes his opinion on, well, anything and it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about his reversal when the press rounds for 'Episode 7' get underway. For now though, it's interesting to see just how little he cared for Han Solo over the years.

Indiana Jones
It's been a pretty wild few days for fans of the "Indiana Jones" franchise. Late Tuesday night, word dropped that Disney was considering a reboot of the beloved series, and had Bradley Cooper down on their list of names of potential people to take over the role. The internet collectively freaked, and it wasn't long for industry folks associated with the franchise to weigh in, with producer Frank Marshall calling the rumors "ridiculous." Now another name associated in the Indiana Jones report has taken the denial a step further.

Like yelling "fire!" in a crowded theatre, when word dropped late last night that Disney was weighing the option of rebooting "Indiana Jones," with Bradley Cooper on a wishlist somewhere of dudes to take over the hat and whip, the internet collectively exploded. Most were upset that anybody but Harrison Ford might play the title role, admonishing the studio for effectively crapping on a classic franchise. Twenty-four hours later, it seems the truth of those claims are being debated.

The last word we heard on "Indiana Jones 5" wasn't so good, at least for those hoping Disney would crack the whip on a sequel sooner rather than later. In December, studio chairman Alan Horn said quite plainly, "We haven’t done anything. We don’t have a story. We need a story.” But if these latest rumors are right, between then and now, something has changed.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark
At the beginning of the month fans of Harrison Ford's wisecracking, hunky, cranky archaeologist Indiana Jones got a dose of good news: the increasing mega-blockbuster spawning behemoth that is Disney snatched up the rights to all future films. And you don't make a move like that unless you actually have plans to do just that. So, yes, "Indiana Jones 5" (or whatever it will be called) is indeed on the way, but you'll have to wait.

"I would do it in a New York minute, yes," Harrison Ford said earlier this year about returning for another "Indiana Jones" sequel. "I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart. I’m old enough that we don’t need (Sean) Connery any more. I’m old enough to play my own father!" And, he might just get his chance to put on the hat and crack the whip one more time.

Star Wars Harrison Ford
For an actor over 70, Harrison Ford sure has his choice of projects that will keep generating income for his bank account, long after he's hung up his acting cap. It was just yesterday he was talking about potentially reprising his role as Deckard for "Blade Runner 2," but the project he's long been rumored for that seems more likely to happen is "Star Wars: Episode 7." However, it would appear the ever crochety thesp is still playing it coy about returning as Han Solo.

The threat/promise of "Indiana Jones 5" still looms overhead, and at the very least, conversations have been happening in some capacity or another. Back in 2011, Steven Spielberg revealed that there was already some discussion as to what the MacGuffin might be, a few months later it seemed that plans for continuing the franchise were kiboshed due to George Lucas' retirement. But as we well know from "Star Wars," even if he's kicking up his feet on beach somewhere, brands mean money and studios will always find a way to keep them alive, but should it even been attempted with Harrison Ford now in his early '70s? Well, according to the actor, the answer is: yes.

That 'Indiana Jones 5' Movie You Didn't Want Probably Won't Happen Now That George Lucas Is Retired

Nobody knows better how to milk a franchise until it's creatively bankrupt than George Lucas. Having driven "Star Wars" down the wormhole of prequels, animated spinoffs, video games and more, taking it straight into oblivion, it seemed the Indiana Jones franchise was next on his list. As if enduring "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" wasn't enough, last fall Steven Spielberg revealed that Lucas had sort of cracked the nut on a fifth movie, figuring out what the MacGuffin would be, but hadn't yet put the story together. But it seems that's as far as it will ever get.
