"Extraordinary Measures," "The Back-Up Plan," "Faster," "Beastly," "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen"... to date, CBS Films' slate hasn't exactly been bursting with quality fare from established auteurs, nor has it had any massive box office success stories. Even more, outside of the surprise Golden Globes presence for 'Yemen,' they haven't been awards season players either, which makes this announcement all the more puzzling.

One movie we hoped might squeak its way onto the release calendar in 2012 was the Coen Brothers' upcoming "Inside Llewyn Davis." The sibling directors have lined up a killer cast for this one with Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and Garrett Hedlund in the pic that's loosely based on the life of Dave van Ronk, an American folk singer who presided over the ‘60s Greenwich Village scene. And as you might expect from that brief description, music is going to be a big part of the movie, and it seems a member of one of the most popular bands around is helping out.

This Christmas will mark whole two years since the last Coen Brothers' film, an absence that's somewhat foreign to us consdering the pair had a prolific run of consecutive films between 2007 and 2010 with "No Country For Old Men," "Burn After Reading," "A Serious Man" and "True Grit." While we've been working under the impression the brothers' latest effort, "Inside Llewyn Davis," would be unveiled next year at the earliest, star Oscar Isaac has thrown a spanner in the works as he recently "hinted that we may indeed see the Coens' movie by year's end although they've yet to announce who may be distributing it domestically."

We're almost exactly a third of the way through the year, and thanks to the announcement of the Cannes Film Festival line-up a couple weeks ago, we're now a little clearer on the timetable of some of the most anticipated films of the year. We know that "Cosmopolis," "Killing Them Softly," "On The Road," "Mud," "Rust And Bone," "Amour" and "The Paperboy," among others are done, and will be screening in only a few short weeks for critics, and U.S. releases, if not set already, can't be far behind. And the release schedule for the rest of the year is firming up fast, with films like "The Master" and "Seven Psychopaths" getting added to the calendar.

As you might have noticed, the 2011/2012 awards season is finally over: the Oscars were on Sunday night, "The Artist" was the big winner, Meryl Streep finally got her third statuette, and "Hugo" basically won everything else. And so we get to put all this talk of what might get nominated, what might win, and who will definitely win, to bed for a year.

Last year was bittersweet for fans of the Coen Brothers. While it was the first time in four years the prolific duo didn't have a film released, it was announced that they'd be returning to the music world in 2012 for their next feature "Inside Llewyn Davis" which would focus on the '60's Greenwich Village scene that included names like Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Joni Mitchell among others.

Well, the cast for the Coen Brothers' forthcoming music world drama "Inside Llewyn Davis," has added another interesting name, with Variety reporting that stage actress Jeanine Serralles has joined the production. The actress previously had parts in James Gray's wildly underrated "Two Lovers" and Julie Taymor's jaw-dropping (in a bad way) "Across the Universe." She joins a cast that already includes Coen film regular John Goodman, Justin Timberlake, Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, in the period film about the Greenwich Village folk music scene in the 1960s.
