Jack Reacher. Jack The Giant Slayer. Jack Harper....we're getting a whole lot of Jack this year. And as 2013 wraps up, there will be another one in the form of "Jack Ryan," a reboot of sorts of the Tom Clancy character last seen on the big screen over a decade ago, played by Ben Affleck in "The Sum Of All Fears." Well, now Chris Pine is taking the mantle, and a couple new images from the upcoming blockbuster have arrived.

A few bits and bobs of casting, so let's just dive right in....first up, the always excellent Shea Whigam ("Take Shelter," "Silver Linings Playbook") has taken a role in his "Boardwalk Empire" executive producer Martin Scorsese's new film "The Wolf Of Wall Street." Based on the memoir of the same name, and adapted by Terence Winter, the film will tell the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wheeling and dealing New York stockbroker who sees his career and personal life fall into shambles thanks to sex, drugs and alcohol.

So, this is the bad guy in "Jack Ryan"? A businessman? We guess if he needs to do some evil, there's probably an app for that... on his now old and thus completely obsolete iPhone 4. Maybe he's calling on one of his minions to get in line to buy the new one.

The thing about Jack Ryan on the big screen is that, from a purely visual standpoint at least, there’s nothing that really distinguishes him as Jack Ryan. He could be any number of movie characters, and that’s rare for a character that Hollywood are willing to build a franchise around. So when we get a look at pictures from the set of a Jack Ryan film, if they didn’t come with descriptions attached we’d be tempted to simply peg them as ‘Chris Pine wearing a sweater while riding a motorpike’ or ‘Chris Pine standing next to Kevin Costner’. Well get ready, because you’re about to be blown away by ‘Chris Pine wearing sunglasses AND talking to Kenneth Branagh’.

It's almost amazing to think at this point – she still feels like an ever-rising star – but it's been over a decade since Keira Knightley first made an impression on screen. She first came to notice in British thriller "The Hole" in 2001, aged only 16, the following year co-starred in crowd-pleasing comedy "Bend It Like Beckham," and the next year headlined Disney mega-blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl." And although she's attracted more unwarranted bile than many of her contemporaries, she's also continued to impress as an actress, starting with an Oscar nomination aged only 20 for "Pride & Prejudice" (the fourth youngest in history in the category).

With a release date now all sewn up for Paramount's we-really-hope-it's-not-actually-called "Jack Ryan," it seems production on the movie is now off and running hard, and the studio has dropped a look at the lead character for a new generation.

Wait, are they really calling the movie formerly known as "Moscow," and then "Untitled Jack Ryan Movie" plain old "Jack Ryan"? Is this movie about an accountant who can find a way to get you even bigger return next year? What about something like the badass titles of yesteryear like "Clear And Present Danger," "The Sum Of All Fears," and "The Hunt For Red October"? Bleh. Let's hope this is just a holding pattern and that Paramount change their minds, but anyway, the movie has a release date.

It sounded, for a few weeks, as if Keira Knightley was done with the blockbusters. The actress, and star of the giant "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, told Empire Magazine this month "It comes to a point where you think, 'What kind of film can I make that will allow me to live a proper life?' And those tent-pole movies make it difficult... I became aware of how much I was complaining about it and you can't complain about the attention you're getting while still doing the films that invite the most attention. I do actually love blockbusters but that decision has a lot that comes with it that I'm not prepared to go with.”
