A few musical cues and news today, so let's jump right in. Brit pop star Jessie J has recorded a new song for "Silver Linings Playbook," which takes the usually bland approach of literalizing the characters and themes of a film to a whole new level. Grammy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren (nominated for six Oscars including Aerosmith's "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" from "Armageddon") has penned "Crazy About You." A movie about two people going through some personal pain that has affected their mental health -- and who fall for each other -- featuring a song called "Crazy About You"? Genius.

There’s an argument – and it’s an argument that this writer subscribes to – that ever since “The Sixth Sense” each of M. Night Shyamalan’s films has been worse than the one that preceded it. “The Sixth Sense” > “Unbreakable” > “Signs” > “The Village” > “Lady in the Water” > “The Happening” > “The Last Airbender.” You may have a few minor quibbles with that order, but it’s hard to disagree that, broadly, the quality of Shyamalan’s movies have followed a distinctly downward trajectory. So that being said, hands up if you’re excited for “After Earth”!

Is it that soon? Believe it or not, "Snow White & The Hunstman" hits theaters in just a few weeks, which means the final marketing push will be happening to get moviegoers to buy a ticket, and Universal is hoping Florence + The Machine fans will be among those lining up for the fairy tale flick.

Ah, ye olde "scheduling conflicts," a catch-all excuse usually utilized to cover up more nefarious frictions between creative types, but in the case of "The Hunger Games," it seems to be the real deal.

While it's been rumored in quieter circles for some time now, it's since been confirmed that eight-time Oscar nominated composer James Newton Howard (everything from "Liar Liar," to "The Dark Knight") will be scoring Martin Campbell's upcoming sci-fi superhero flick, "Green Lantern."
