When the "Evil Dead" remake was first announced, everyone pretty much assumed that it was going to suck. This was something that star/producer Bruce Campbell acknowledged during the Q&A at the film's SXSW World Premiere last month. But after years of being assaulted with fan questions about a fourth installment, the trio behind the original (Campbell, writer/director Sam Raimi and producer Robert Tapert) probably felt it was their duty to give the fans what they wanted. And since they perhaps felt they were getting a little old for another go-round themselves – it's been 20 years since the third and previously final installment "Army Of Darkness" – a remake/reboot/"rebirth" must have seemed really the only way to go.

“Evil Dead” is about five twenty-something friends at a remote cabin in the woods. Things get interesting when they find a Book of the Dead and conjure up some demonic spirits from the nearby woods. Feel like you’ve seen it before? That’s because it’s a remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult horror classic.

While the term "remake" generally makes us shudder, the upcoming do-overs of horror staples "Evil Dead" and "Carrie" are giving reasons for optimism. The former is looking to take its R-rating right to the edge with a picture that takes inspiration from Sam Raimi's original and runs with it, promising audiences on the poster that it will be the most terrifying movie they've ever seen. Meanwhile, the latter puts Chloe Moretz in the iconic lead role, with none other than Kimberly Peirce directing in what will hopefully be a unique take on Stephen King's story. And now some new images are here to tease what's in store for both films.

When ABC’s sitcom “Suburgatory” debuted in the fall of 2011, the show’s star, Jane Levy, immediately caught our eye. Last year, she was on our list of ten actresses destined for the big time and she has yet to disappoint thus far. She plays the lead role in the upcoming “Evil Dead” remake, which comes out in April, and now she’s got another big role to add to her plate.

Watch: 'Evil Dead' Green Band Trailer, Less Restricted, Still Scary

You would think that post-“Cabin in the Woods” there would be more skepticism than excitement about the return to the original cabin in the woods, with the forthcoming “Evil Dead” remake. But Fede Alvarez’s movie has been generating some positive buzz ever since the red band trailer hit last year, and there’s a lot of optimism for the film starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore. We imagine it’s probably taken a great deal of effort to cut together a green band version that retains the scares but removes the blood and gore, but some clever person has gone and done it, and now we have a trailer for "Evil Dead" that’s just as compelling but now suitable for the whole family!

If Jane Levy's face up there is anything to go by, the Sam Raimi produced remake of his own 1981 cult hit "Evil Dead" will terrify you. In fact, they're pretty much promising it.

Review: Not So 'Fun Size' Doesn't Know The Audience It Wants

While you can debate the merits of "The O.C.," "Gossip Girl" and "Chuck," it can't be argued that writer/producer Josh Schwartz knows how to zero in on a target audience and cater to them specifically and successfully. Generally, his most lucrative milieu is in providing tweenage girls lukewarm TV soap operas, where beauitful people, get into rich people trouble, usually accompanied by high fashion and hip soundtracks. So it's easy to see why Nickelodean Movies were eager to harness his skills for an "Adventures In Babysitting" meets "Superbad" picture presumably for that demographic. But the resulting movie hardly approaches the pleasure of those films, with a result that is so tonally off balance, that it feels like the result of too many meetings with executives trying to figure out how to make a four-quadrant hit.

On Saturday, at New York Comic Con, darkness rolled over the IGN Theater, as a special presentation from next spring's Screen Gems remake of Sam Raimi's immortal horror classic "Evil Dead" was unveiled, including the first-ever screening of footage. In attendance were the remake's director Fede Alvarez, along with the movie's lead, Jane Levy (star of "Suburgatory" on ABC and this month's Halloween feature "Fun Size"). Oh, and there was also this dude named Bruce Campbell. Fans of the franchise might be familiar with him. Starred in the original, produced the remake -- you know the drill.

Some people just can't handle Halloween! Deeep. A teen comedy centered on a high school senior, Wren (Victoria Justice), who is eager to distance herself from her dysfunctional family by going off to college, Paramount's "Fun Size" actually focuses first on Halloween night. Wren gets stuck babysitting her little brother on Halloween, the same evening when the hottest guy in school is throwing a party. Omg!
