A decade after his last directorial effort, news filtered through last year that Billy Bob Thornton had finished a script for a post-war drama titled "Jayne Mansfield's Car" with Tom Epperson and that he was set to direct and star along side Robert Duvall.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Robert Duvall revealed at last Friday’s Critic Choice Movie Awards that he's eying Billy Bob Thornton’s “Jayne Mansfield’s Car," his next directorial effort. Thornton first revealed the project late last year, and the film will find him starring and directing a script he co-wrote with Tom Epperson, with whom he worked on "One False Move" and "A Family Thing" that starred Duvall.

Just a couple of days ago, Billy Bob Thornton revealed he had a new directorial effort in the works, "Jayne Mansfield's Car." Not much was known about the film but in an interview with Reuters (via /Film), Thornton has opened up a little more about the film.

'Bad Santa 2' Also In The Works Midway through what's now nearly 25 years in the film business, Billy Bob Thornton gave his career new life by writing, directing and acting in the drama "Sling Blade," picking up a Best Screenplay Academy Award for his troubles. While the film quickly became an easy punchline (really, who among 1990s stand-up comedians didn't have a Sling Blade impersonation in their repertoire?), it holds up well today, and seemed to signal the arrival of a major directorial talent.
