Former “The O.C.” heartthrob Adam Brody has come a long way from his days of covering for bad boy buddy Ryan Atwood in the privileged California community. Since his breakout turn in the Fox drama, he’s stolen the show in everything from big budget blockbusters like “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” to the Jason Reitman-directed “Thank You For Smoking,” and most recently has been carving out a niche for himself in independent drama and comedies like the forthcoming “The Oranges,” and Whit Stillman’s “Damsels in Distress,” and was recently cast in the long-gestating Linda Lovelace biopic “Lovelace.” It certainly seems like his days as Seth Cohen are far behind him.

Chuck Norris & Jean-Claude Van Damme Confirmed, Are Michael Biehn And Michael Pare In The Mix Too?"The Expendables" having proven successful enough in its collection of elderly ass-kickers to get a sequel green-lit, it was clear that creator/writer/star Sylvester Stallone would have to raise his game for the second go-round. First of all, with not all the stars returning (it looks like Jet Li won't be back, for one), it would help to draft in a few more action icons to help make up the numbers. And secondly, with the first film being somewhat subpar, and the less than amazing Simon West ("Con Air," "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider") replacing Stallone in the director's chair, it'd need something special to get all but the least discerning action fans excited about a sequel.

Duo Listed In 'The Expendables 2' Cast On Millenium Films' WebsiteCasting rumors have long been circulating for "The Expendables 2," with names like John Travolta, Donnie Yen and Taylor Lautner among those being linked to the action sequel. While none of these have been confirmed, the website for Millennium Films has posted a cast list for the high testosterone actioner, slated for release next August, and in addition to the returning cast, the two new names are ones we've heard about several times already: Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Inexplicably hustling into (limited) theaters this weekend is “Assassination Games,” a hitman actioner the likes of which you’ve seen before. Jean-Claude Van Damme is the big name attached, but the “star” is martial artist Scott Adkins. Together the two cinematic pugilists have been cutting a swath through the world of direct-to-DVD action, though Van Damme has dabbled in the mainstream a bit more as of late. So, to some, this is a momentous match-up.

Director Phillip Noyce has always embodied the word "workmanlike." Not quiet an auteur, but not a faceless hack either, Noyce has succeeded in making above-average or at least financially successful studio fare like "Patriot Games," "Salt," "Clear And Present Danger" and "The Bone Collector." Every now and then he'll do a prestige pic like "The Quiet American" or "Rabbit Proof Fence" to mixed results. And while lately he's circled the time travel pic "Timeless," the thriller "Hunter Killer" and the true life nature conservancy story "Our Wild Life," we didn't think things were this bad.

You asked for it: Sly and the gang are suiting up for "The Expendables 2." As the last film made a killing in international pre-sales, so will this one, as Nu Image is shopping the yet-to-be-shot actioner in Cannes with this brand new poster. Yes, it reeks of cheese, but it's also a mock-up probably done by one lowly intern on his lunch break, merely an announcement that "this movie exists." It does seem telling that, unlike last time, there isn't a giant list of names all over this thing, as shooting is very tenuously planned for the fall despite the likelihood that cast members from the first film may be busy.

Bruce Willis & Jean-Claude Van Damme To Show Up In 'Expendables 2'?

Speaking to Access Hollywood during the Golden Globes, Bruce Willis let it slip in a roundabout, not totally confirmed way that "The Expendables 2" was looking to shoot this year and that he may star. "Apparently it's going to happen this year... As far as I know, barring any unforeseen circumstances, but yeah, I would love to be a part of it." Willis generated buzz with a cameo in the first film as the mysterious Church, a character who, in a draft of the script we read, has a surprising backstory that revealed him as the mastermind pulling the strings for the Expendables' suicide mission. Which, of course, ended up not suicidal at all, since Sylvester Stallone and co. might as well have nuked the place at the end of that movie.

Hollywood casting can be like musical chairs. So when people bemoan how certain actors don't take quality projects, or how others don't work that often, it's usually just a case that they haven't managed to stay in the public eye. Which probably benefits Disney's "The Muppets" since a cavalcade of stars looks to be lining up to feature in the comedy.
