Steven Spielberg shot "War Horse" during a break while his team of animators were working on "The Adventures of Tintin," but it's not a rush job -- the director took his time searching for cast members, sending his actors to boot camp to learn to ride, and waiting for the English weather to cooperate. At the press day and the film's premiere, Spielberg, screenwriter Richard Curtis, and the cast of "War Horse" revealed how they transformed the children's book and award-winning play into a film that has already garnered Golden Globe nominations for Best Drama and Best Score.

After a year of fairly tough work, dealing with infidelity and depression in "The Deep Blue Sea", U.N. corruption in "The Whistleblower," and forgetting to turn down roles in "360" and "Dream House," the next year or so sees Rachel Weisz heading to tentpole territory for the first time since 2005's "Constantine." She's got a key role alongside Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton and co. in Tony Gilroy's "The Bourne Legacy" arriving in the summer, while early 2013 sees her join Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams as one of a triumvirate of witches in Sam Raimi's "Oz The Great and Powerful."

A lot has been made of the Oscar potential for Steven Spielberg’s still-unseen WWI epic “War Horse,” but the majority of that chatter has been for the Picture, Directing, Screenplay, and technical categories. Hardly anyone has mentioned the young lead of "War Horse," Jeremy Irvine, as a Best Actor contender. But, as Kristopher Tapley and Anne Thompson pointed out on their excellent Oscar Talk podcast, if "War Horse" is a hit with the Academy, the film’s actors could ride a tidal wave of goodwill right onto Nomination Shore. Stranger things have happened: See Ian McKellan’s Best Supporting Actor nomination for “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.” His performance in that film was good, but it wasn’t anything Sir Ian didn’t do in “X-Men.” The point is, when a film gets thirteen nominations—and if any film does this year, it could very well be "War Horse"—one of those nods will probably be for acting.

Here's a girl who's going places. After breaking out on popular British series "Skins," Kaya Scodelario already has the leading role in Andrea Arnold's adaptation of Emily Brontë's classic "Wuthering Heights" on the horizon which, if all the attention Katie Jarvis got for "Fish Tank" is anything to go by, will surely bring her further into the spotlight when it finally premieres sometime this fall.

'The Mighty Boosh' Helmer Paul King To Direct 'Peter Pan In Scarlet'It's fair to say that, when we were 17, we were nowhere near as busy as Dakota Fanning is. The actress, a veteran of over a decade of film work, will next be seen reprising her evil turn in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," is currently filming "The Motel Life" with Emile Hirsch, and has many, many other projects circulating, including a turn as Princess Margaret in royal rom-com "Girl's Night Out," and as announced last week, the coming-of-age tale "Very Good Girls" opposite the next big thing, Elizabeth Olsen. And for yet another of her percolating projects, she's just landed some company.

If the name Jeremy Irvine is meaningless to you, don't worry, that will soon change. The National Youth Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company actor -- and player in the the Brit series "Life Bites" -- was handpicked last year by Steven Spielberg to star in his upcoming WWI drama "War Horse" and now it looks like the actor is ready to take on one of the giants of literature with veteran Brit thesp possibly joining him.
