While he may not be as beloved as that other Paul Anderson, shlock-auteur Paul W.S. Anderson has never been hurting for work. His latest effort, the period-disaster 3D film “Pompeii” has seen a flurry of casting additions and it now has a release date smack dab in the middle of the early-year dumping ground.

When the "Evil Dead" remake was first announced, everyone pretty much assumed that it was going to suck. This was something that star/producer Bruce Campbell acknowledged during the Q&A at last night's SXSW World Premiere. But after years of being assaulted with fan questions about a fourth installment, the trio behind the original (Campbell, writer/director Sam Raimi and producer Robert Tapert) probably felt it was their duty to give the fans what they wanted. And since they perhaps felt they were getting a little old for another go-round themselves – it's been 20 years since the third and previously final installment "Army Of Darkness" – a remake/reboot/"rebirth" must have seemed really the only way to go.

Well, that was fast. Last night Samuel L. Jackson hit "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" and confirmed that Nick Fury would be in both "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Thor." He also dropped the bomb that tomorrow, he was going to be screentesting with actresses for some kind of companion role in the upcoming "The Avengers" telling Fallon, "I gotta screen test like five actresses on Friday. They have this new character that’s my sidekick or something, that’s with me all the time."
