2011 Oscar Nominations: 'The King's Speech' Leads The Pack With 12 Nominations

"The King's Speech" sits on the throne this morning, earning 12 Oscar nominations and looking like the film to beat at the 83rd Academy Awards, while "True Grit" follows with 10 nods and "The Social Network" with 8. Not much in the way of shockers this year, but some pleasant surprises in the mix as well as few snubs.

Justin Long, John Hawkes & Ryan Phillippe To Star In Indie Pic 'Chronicle'

There’s not a lot of information yet, but a report about Justin Long’s new production company revealed that he would be starring in a new film, “Chronicle,” alongside John Hawkes and Ryan Philippe. According to the Gramery Park Pictures website, Mickey Rourke, Helena Bonham Carter, Kate Mara, Danny Masterson and Vincent D'Onofrio were in discussions to join the cast as of last month, but no word if they will be signing on or have simply moved on (our guess is probably the latter).

John Hawkes & Molly Parker Star In Indie Drama 'The Playroom'

Shooting has already begun in Dallas, Texas, on “The Playroom,” an independent drama about a dysfunctional family. Veteran Canadian actress Molly Parker and "Winter's Bone" star John Hawkes -- who also appeared together in “Deadwood” -- will star as the parents of four children in the ’70s including their volatile teenage daughter (Olivia Harris) who "acts as a surrogate mother to the younger children, who have created a make-believe world in their attic hideaway while the parents act out a sordid story below."
