In the spring of 2010, a not-so-brilliant, hare-brained idea was announced: a remake of Troma Entertainment's campy, super low-budget, sex-filled 1984 B-movie (or is that Z-movie?) "The Toxic Avenger." With genius Akiva Goldsman ("I Am Legend," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith"), on board, the reconstituted idea was to make a family friendly pro-environment PG-13 movie. And who better to front the green movement than a deformed mop-wielding superhero from New Jersey?

After a string of biopics, a documentary, and a decent “Wall Street” sequel, it's clear Oliver Stone is ready to return to his special, sun-soaked universe -- one where the violent atmosphere infuses every frame and its characters' swaggering personalities aren't too far behind. His newest film “Savages” has more than confirmed this with its exaggerated trailer, and now six new clips have arrived before the film opens just around the corner.

While Universal's decision to move Oliver Stone's "Savages" from a fall release date to a prime summer slot on the same weekend that "The Amazing Spider-Man" hits theaters may seem like a strange choice, there's a certain logic to it from a counter-programming perspective. And moreover, it seems to be in the oddball spirit of the director himself, who usually doesn't miss an opportunity to provoke and challenge when given half the chance. And while we'll have to wait and see if the gamble will pay off, with just a couple weeks to go the studio has dropped a generous helping of new images of the film, giving us a chance to see what Stone is pulling together for his latest, pulpier effort.

Tom Cruise Has Seen Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master,' Has "Issues" With It

Since rumors started to fly about Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film, "The Master," which was said, and has now pretty much been confirmed, to be about the much-mocked religion of Scientology, there's been one question on the back of many our minds: what does Tom Cruise think about the whole thing? The megastar is, after all, both an Oscar nominee for his supporting turn in Anderson's 1999 film "Magnolia," and a leading light in, and often public spokesman for, the Church of Scientology, the very subject which his former director was tackling with his latest film.
