Creator/Writer/Producer/Voice of Allen Gregory Shows Another Side of His Unique Brand of Humor On The Small Screen"Allen Gregory" is Jonah Hill's new animated series on Fox, about Allen Gregory de Longpre, a precocious, pretentious 7 year old navigating elementary school life for the first time. During a presentation of the pilot and subsequent Q&A at USC on Sunday, Hill, the cast and crew talked about the making of "Allen Gregory" and their creative process with this new venture. In addition to creating, writing and producing the series, Hill voices the miniature Allen Gregory, who talks like a combination of an Upper East Side grandma and Ari from "Entourage." He has two dads, the snarky/urbane Richard, voiced by French Stewart, and the hunky, warm, possibly straight Jeremy, voiced by Nat Faxon, the comedian who also wrote "The Descendants."

In contrast to the Best Actor & Actress race, which we've examined in the last few weeks, the supporting categories are looking much more open. A-list movie stars like Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Penelope Cruz and Cate Blanchett, who've all figured in recent years, are mostly absent from contention, and only a few performances have really planted a flag in the category, with some initially strong contenders already starting to slip away.

Breaking out as the foul-mouthed Seth in "Superbad," Jonah Hill has been slowly diversifying his CV. With films like "Cyrus" and this weekend's "Moneyball," Hill has been stretching his wings into dramatic territory, he's got "Allen Gregory," a new animated show he co-created premiering on Fox next month, but as long as he's been making the Hollywood rounds, he's been talking about directing, and he's now gotten his feet wet behind the camera.

Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel have teased and taunted fans of their feature adaptation of "Jay & Seth Vs. Apocalypse," the Internet sensation that hit all the way back in 2007, for far too long. But along with the recent announcement by Rogen that lensing will take place in early 2012, the actor has now revealed that two friends and regular collaborators in James Franco and Jonah Hill will be featuring in the film as themselves.

Star Also Turned Down A Role In Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Only God Forgives,' But Wants To Be In 'Logan's Run'Now that Terrence Malick has evolved into a workhorse, much to the pleasure of every cinemaniac, if there's another guy we'd like to see working more frequently, it would be Albert Brooks. He by no means has a small body of work, but for 40+ years in the business, there are surprisingly few credits to his name. Despite this, however, he has managed to craft several memorable movies and characters: his Oscar-nominated turn in James L. Brooks's "Broadcast News" was unquestionably affecting, he was a perfect ingredient in the moving Pixar flick "Finding Nemo," and as a director he never made anything less-than-enjoyable (in fact, "Real Life," "Modern Romance," and "Lost in America" are pretty incredible).

Any of you moms or dads need a night off? The AV Club tipped us to a number for a new babysitter. We've called five times now and he won't pick up, but here are the deets if you're interested: "Hi this is Noah Griffith, if you're calling about the babysitting job let me just say: I will toke up in your house, I've been known to shoplift when I've had too much to drink, I DON'T play games, unless you've got a safe word, you hear me lady, I will not clean up after myself, I will not even report on the whereabouts of your children, I will not say no in the face of danger, and I charge $18 an hour, if this sounds good, leave your information and i will probably get back to you."

America's greatest pastime hasn't been in great shape lately. Plagued by drug scandals and general disenchantment with the sport that pays astronomical prices for out-of-shape guys to hit a ball four hundred feet or so, it seems the magic of the ol' ballgame seems to have dissipated. This writer once religiously followed the sport, could rattle off batting lineups, bullpen rosters and second string second basemen at a moment's notice. But of late, we haven't had much reason to pay attention other than casually stopping in on games while flipping through channels. And while "Moneyball" won't get us picking up the daily sports section again, Bennett Miller's enjoyable and rousing film is a tribute to that the game's journeymen. The guys who aren't mega-watt stars, but who hustle day in and day out for years, all for the love of the game.

While John Landis hasn't made anything worth talking about since "Coming To America," his son Max Landis is carrying the family name. The up-and-coming scribe penned the forthcoming superhero flick "Chronicle"; he's got “Amnesty” a mysterious project described as a cross between J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Ludlum with Ron Howard attached and he's penning one of the many Frankenstein pics knocking around Hollywood looking to get made. Now another Max Landis project is attracting some heavyweight talent.
