After becoming a hit at Sundance and South by Southwest (our review called it "impressive and charming", Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, the porn addiction comedy "Don Jon," finally has a trailer. And judging by the brief glimpse at the movie, it's easy to see why audiences went loony for this – it looks pretty damn charming, with Levitt leading a amazing cast (including Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, and Brie Larson) and an original, totally identifiable take on the modern romantic comedy.

Well, that was fun while it lasted. Kind of. Yesterday, the interwebs threw the rumor signal into the sky as Hitfix claimed with "absolute certainty" that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be the new Batman in "Justice League." But 24 hours later, that word hasn't panned out.

Sorry 99%, Christopher Nolan Won't Be Shooting In Zuccotti ParkSo "The Dark Knight Rises" production hit New York City this week and as usual, everyone with a camera is taking pictures of whatever they can, and while we haven't kept up with the minutia of set photos this seems to be something fresh. Or not. But anyway, when Joseph Gordon-Levitt was first cast in the film it was said that he was playing a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. Many assumed this was a ruse and that he was secretly playing someone much more important, but as these pics bear out...well, he's a beat cop. And it looks like he's assigned to protecting Bruce Wayne. MAYBE HE'LL BECOME ROBIN! Or maybe he's secretly the Joker's brother. Or maybe he's just a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. We'll find out eventually.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Lining Up Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Well, here's a pretty easy case of connect-the-dots. We just finished reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Premium Rush" had been moved from January 13, 2012 to August 24, 2012 and we figured maybe it was a tactic by Sony to get the film some additional heat after the actor's turn next summer in "The Dark Knight Rises." However, with Variety reporting that JGL is now in talks for a role in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" they add, "he'll have to sort out several scheduling issues that could prevent him from participating." You see where we're going with this?

TIFF '11 Review: Admirable, Low-Key ’50/50’ Splits Difference Between Genuinely Funny And Sad

Let's get this out of the way early; the cancer dramedy, "50/50," formerly known as "I'm With Cancer," is an admirable effort by all the parties involved. There's maturity and restraint shown throughout in this story, about a healthy young twentysomething man staring his mortality in the face when he is suddenly diagnosed with a rare spinal cancer, and it's a well-intentioned humanistic drama that tries to demonstrate that life is complicated and never quite cut and dry. The measured film takes pains to illustrate there is laughter to be derived in difficult and near-tragic situations and melancholy can also be found in some of the most humorous moments. It's also a friendship movie that is wise enough to not feel like a bromance film. In fact, it feels like it comes from the playbook of master comedians like James L. Brooks, Judd Apatow and Albert Brooks who deftly understand that a little sour in sweetness and vice-versa can go a long, long way.

Filmmaker Describes Why They Dropped The Original Title, 'I'm With Cancer' & How They Survived Losing Their Lead Actor 2 Weeks Before ShootingThe words 'Seth Rogen comedy' and 'Oscar-buzz' are not usually found in the same sentence, but that's the situation that "50/50" has found itself in. Based on an autobiographical script by Rogen's pal Will Reiser, it stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam, a man in his twenties who is unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer, with Rogen (who is also producing) as his best friend, and Anna Kendrick as his psychiatrist/love interest.
