He may have starred in two of the worst blockbusters of recent years -- “Green Lantern” and “R.I.P.D.” -- but don’t hold that against him, given the right film and role (like in this year’s “The Voices”) Ryan Reynolds can shine. Deadline reports Reynolds will stay in the arthouse world with a role in the Helen Mirren-starring “Woman In Gold” alongside Daniel Bruhl, who’s in negotiations with The Weinstein Company.

On the Other Side of the Tracks Omar Sy
As "Jurassic World" gears up to roll in front of cameras, the finishing touches on the cast are being put in place plus some new details about the shoot are emerging, and it turns out Colin Trevorrow's latest installment will be connecting all the way to back to Steven Spielberg's 1993 smash hit "Jurassic Park."

Vincent D’Onofrio
Apparently no one has asked Jeff Goldblum if he’s going to reprise his “Jurassic Park” role in “Jurassic World,” but two new actors have been asked and cast. Former “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” actor Vincent D’Onofrio and Indian star Irrfan Khan have both joined the tentpole that already includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson.

Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic Park 4
With just the charming time-travel drama “Safety Not Guaranteed” under his feature belt director Colin Trevorrow initially scanned as a curious choice to helm the new installment of the dormant “Jurassic Park” franchise. Would the massive step up in scale and stakes for “Jurassic World” prove to hit the same atmosphere and excitement of Steven Spielberg’s 1994 original? More than a year stands before we get the final answer, but for now new details have promised he’s aiming for a classic old-school approach.

Idris Elba, Luke Cage
With the character Luke Cage moving to Netflix’s Marvel deal, this ship has likely sailed, but evidently “Pacific Rim star was talking to Marvel about playing the Powerman half of the Powerman & Iron Fist duo (both of them are getting separate shows as part of the Marvel/Netflix deal).

Chris Pratt
So, is Chris Pratt going to be the next big thing? The "Parks & Recreation" star certainly has a busy agent, who has lined him up in a co-starring role opposite Vince Vaughn in this month's "Delivery Man," and of course the actor will be seen in next summer's Marvel gamble "Guardians Of The Galaxy." And that's following stints in stuff like "Moneyball" and "Zero Dark Thirty" that allowed him to show a bit of range. And it looks like another tentpole project is coming Pratt's way.

You have to give some credit to Josh Brolin. Even if his first venture into leading man blockbuster territory was nothing short a fucking disaster with "Jonah Hex," he's been brave enough to give it another whirl. And in 2012 he had much more success playing opposite Will Smith in "Men In Black 3." However, the pendulum of fate dealt the actor another blow when the star-studded "Gangster Squad" fizzled. But perhaps this means "Jurassic World" could be the right choice.

The Kings Of Summer Nick Robinson
"Jurassic World" continues to cast up, and right now the focus seems to be grabbing rising young talent for the lead roles. Just yesterday, the production nabbed "Insidious" and "Iron Man 3" kid Ty Simpkins, and now another youthful actor with proven chops will get to run from dinosaurs too.

Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr., Kid, Ty Simpkins
At 12 years old, Ty Simpkins is a franchise and tentpole veteran. The grade school actor made an appearance in Steven Spielberg's "War Of The Worlds" at three years old, he's in both highly successful "Insidious" movies, and this summer, he traded quips with Robert Downey Jr. in "Iron Man 3." And for his next move? How about helping to relaunch a dinosaur franchise?

To people of a certain age, a return to "Jurassic Park," Steven Spielberg's 1993 smash hit which still plays really well today, is something to get excited for. As for us, we'll always pretty dubious about brand extensions happening over a decade later that have no real reason for existing other than to keep merchandising dollars moving, but we're still curious to see what "Safety Not Guaranteed" director Colin Trevorrow comes up with. And even though we're still just under two years from the this stomping into theaters, he's starting to get his cast together.
