I had the opportunity and good fortune to sit down with director Christopher Nolan last week during some Oscar luncheons to discuss this week’s release of “The Dark Knight Rises” and the complete “Dark Knight Rises Trilogy” on Blu-ray/DVD. Ever the well-coiffed and relatable gentleman, Nolan is obviously known for his secrecy, but I was struck with how carefully he jiu jitsu’d around certain questions without ever coming across as deeply cagey. Instead, perhaps like his silent and swift ‘Dark Knight Rises’ protagonist, it’s as if he shook your hand with a smile and moments later you realized your wallet was gone.

If all goes according to plan, three massive geek movies are coming in 2015: "Star Wars: Episode 7," "The Avengers 2" and "Justice League," which equals non-stop rumors for the next little while. In fact, it was just last week that we dealt with the quick rise and fall of the "Joseph-Gordon-Levitt-is-the-new-Batman" rumors and now, "Justice League" may or may not have picked its villain.

Well, that was fun while it lasted. Kind of. Yesterday, the interwebs threw the rumor signal into the sky as Hitfix claimed with "absolute certainty" that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be the new Batman in "Justice League." But 24 hours later, that word hasn't panned out.

Let the speculatin' begin (again). During the entire press run for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," the drum beat played by everyone around the picture, from the director through each member of the cast, was that it was the end. There would be no fourth movie. Christian Bale said he wouldn't suit up again (unless Nolan wanted him to) and even with Joseph Gordon-Levitt revealed to be Robin/the new Batman, the actor insisted that there was no need for any spinoffs. Never say never, we suppose...there may be something transpiring....

Zack Snyder Says 'Man Of Steel' Will Keep Things "On Course" For 'Justice League'

Such are the days we live in that Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel" is still half a year away from hitting theaters, and questions are already being asked about a sequel and how it may or may not tie into Warner Bros. plans for "Justice League." Actually, the latter question has been asked as far back as spring of 2011, and if anything, we've seen a slow erosion from an outright denial to what amounts to "no comment," more or less.

Who On Earth Could Warner Bros. Cast In Their 'Justice League' Movie?

The great success story of 2012, in the blockbuster world, has been "The Avengers," the superhero team-up movie that was the culmination of Marvel's multi-year plan since they started producing their own movies. As you might expect, the film's success means that Marvel's arch-rivals Warner Bros./DC Comics are pressing ahead with a movie of "Justice League," their own superhero team-up property. DC are owned outright by Time Warner, and as such, they have the advantage of having all of the characters -- Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman et al. -- under the same roof. But outside of the success of Christopher Nolan's standalone Batman movies (they won't be crossing over into any future efforts), Warner Bros. hasn't had much success with their own comic book movies.

Get out your speculation machine, prepare the shortlists because as "Justice League" from Warner Bros. inches closer and closer, every scrap and morsel will be examined and pontificated over until the movie is actually in theaters. Even though we already sorta knew this, the studio is putting together some plans to bring the superhero team-up movie to the big screen.

Get out the old bag of salt, and set skepticism phasers to stun, as yet another rumor for a comic book movie that is likely three years away has popped up. And no, we're not talking about "The Avengers 2."

Rumor: Intergalactic Bounty Hunter Lobo Might Be In 'Justice League' Movie (But Probably Not...)

Take this with the biggest grain of salt you can find (we suggest the Salt District of your local urban center), but Comic Book Movie is exclusively reporting that Warner Bros. is "kicking around" the idea of using Lobo in their forthcoming "Justice League" movie. We can't help but zero in on the intentionally vague phrasing of the report. "Kicking around" could amount to one executive saying "Hey, what about putting Lobo in 'Justice League'?" only to have the rest of the room ask "Who is Lobo?" And then whip him with towels or something.

Rumor: Could Rebooted Batman First Appear In 'Justice League' Movie?

According to a Batman on Film, there's a rumor circulating that Batman could be rebooted, post-Christopher Nolan, not in his very own standalone film but as part of the proposed "Justice League" movie. This new version of the character would then star in a separate film after the "Justice League" movie is released and makes a whole lot of money. Take this for what it is – an extreme, ALL CAPS rumor – but in a weird way it would make sense for the "Justice League" property to introduce DC characters that can then be spun off later, in a kind of inverse of the Marvel model, in which a bunch of mediocre movies served as the precursor to the much better team-up film "The Avengers."
