Whether you’ve seen “The Bling Ring” or read the film’s track listing, you’ll know that the soundtrack included a few Kanye West tracks. In an interview with Pitchfork, Sofia Coppola and her long-time musical supervisor Brian Retzell revealed that not only did West’s involvement help get the others (Frank Ocean and Rick Ross in particular) to sign on for the ‘Bling’ soundtrack, but that Coppola and Retzell originally had approached West for a much more integral role in the film’s music.

The Bling Ring
Next week the Cannes Film Festival begins, and with it will come a lot of Very Serious Cinema about Important Things, featuring Deep Characters. But, for those looking to get a bit wild, Sofia Coppola will be opening the Un Certain Regard slate with "The Bling Ring," her take on a teen gang of celebrity thieves seeking fame and fortune, by hook or by crook. There will be partying, pole-dancing and all sorts of bad behavior, and as usual, Coppola has selected a pretty fine batch of tunes to go with it.

Kanye West, Daft Punk and Chris Cunningham. A collaboration between those three would be mightily cool indeed and it looks like it might just happen. Daft Punk are currently busy promoting their upcoming album Random Access Memories ahead of its release next month and they've been discussing working with Kanye again after the rapper previously sampled them on his track "Stronger."

A couple of years ago, before he set up his low-budget comeback film “Red Hook Summer," Spike Lee was planning another NYC-set project, “Brooklyn Loves MJ,” with the story taking place on the night of the death of pop superstar Michael Jackson in June 2009. Said to star Samuel L. Jackson, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie and more, the film never came together (although Lee told us recently that he hoped to get it going again), but the director’s been able to pay tribute to the late King of Pop in a couple of other ways. For one, he’s helped to organize a semi-annual Brooklyn Loves MJ party (although it didn’t take place this year or last for various reasons). And then there’s the director’s latest film, and his second of 2012, “Bad 25.” The subject matter is less weighty for the man behind such stirring docs as "4 Little Girls" and "When The Levees Broke," but the results are no less pleasing for this effort which delves into the making of Jackson's Bad, the fifth biggest-selling LP of all time.

Amidst all the hoity-toity awards fare and sober dramas this fall, RZA will storm theaters with his directorial debut "The Man With The Iron Fists." The film, which looks to be a wickedly over the top martial arts flick delivered the way only a member of the Wu-Tang Clan knows how, will unsurprisingly feature a heavy duty soundtrack to go with it.

Director Romain Gavras is no stranger to helming provocative material, being the man behind M.I.A.'s redhead killing "Born Free" and the helmer of "Notre Jour Viendre" but he's upping the stakes for "No Church In The Wild," the latest single from the team up of Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Rapper Kid Cudi moonlights as an actor every now and then, most recently popping up in a regular role on the (sadly) now-defunct HBO series "How To Make It In America" but it looks like he's also a keen cinephile, sampling Joe Cornish's "Attack The Block" on his latest track, a collaboration with producer Dot da Genius.

You wanted it, you got it. Whatever you think of this weekend's outrageous found footage party movie "Project X" there is no denying that the filmmakers provided a serious playlist to accompany the debauchery on screen. And while 13 of those songs were collected for the official soundtrack that was released earlier this week, we've heard from more than a few readers that they want to know every song that was featured in the film. Well, we've tracked down that list and here it is: all the music that rocked your eardrums in "Project X."

It's easy to poke fun at Kanye West...No, seriously, it's easy to poke fun at Kanye West, and it's also pretty fun to poke fun at Kanye West, so we're going to go ahead and do it. Seemingly throwing into doubt his potential role as the creative director of a "The Jetsons" movie, 'Ye (is that really what people call him?) is reportedly planning to make a 30 minute short art film somewhere in the Gulf. Admittedly, this may be a fairly crushing blow for anybody on the edge of their seats about whether George Jetson would don a pair of Kanye's shutter glasses -- now we may never know.
