After an underwhelming trailer and flashy set photos, we thought the film adaptation of Max Barry’s novel “Syrup,” might show up at Sundance. It didn't, but along the way, Magnolia Pictures landed the film and, with a theatrical and OnDemand release around they corner, they’ve also dropped a brand new trailer.

And so they face the final curtain. This week "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2," the fifth film in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling young-adult vampire novels, will hit theaters (read our review here). And while Lionsgate and Summit are hoping to extend the life of their cash cow, for the moment this movie marks the end of the franchise and the story of star-crossed lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swann.

Amber Heard has already been down that path as the star of "The Informers," and once again it looks like she'll be in a film where everyone seems just a little bit crooked.

"Project X" star Jonathan Daniel Brown, Kellan Lutz and Nina Dobrev are set to star in John Stockwell's "Kid Cannabis," a rags-to-riches drug tale based on a 2005 Rolling Stone article that follows an impoverished, depressed high school dropout who quickly finds himself managing a multi-million dollar marijuana smuggling operation across the Idaho-Canada border.

There's a long history of Hollywood plundering Asian action stars for their own, from Bruce Lee to Jay Chou, but aside from the occasional exception (who could forget Paul Rudd in "Gen-Y Cops?" Answer: everyone), the exchange rarely works the other way. But with investment from China and elsewhere becoming more and more important, the balance is starting to tip a little. Kevin Spacey is starring in Chinese picture "Inseparable" and Christian Bale took the lead in Zhang Yimou's "The Flowers Of War," while Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling are heading East for the Bangkok-set "Only God Forgives."
