The Avengers

Marvel Studios are usually pretty tight-lipped about spoilers in their movies, but recently they've been lifting the veil. Some fans complained recently that Marvel Chief Kevin Feige was revealing too many spoilers, but apparently the honcho said, these media reveals are not spoilers but "bonuses" (now that's a fun spin). Well, if you want to know some of the goods about "Iron Man 3," come on down, but if you'd rather go in blind, beware, spoiler abound.

You might not remember, or perhaps you deleted it from your memory, but circa Marvel's campaign for "Iron Man 2," they dropped a hilariously terrible international poster that basically was a mashup of all the things in the movie. Well, three years on, they haven't deviated from the playbook as a new one-sheet has arrived, and once again, a lowly intern (probably) has cut and pasted a bunch of stuff together.

Kevin Feige Suggests "Django Unchained" May Have Killed A '70s Black Panther movie
Today's premiere of the third trailer for "Iron Man 3" (which starts hitting theaters around the world next month) has given us our best glimpse so far at Marvel's Phase Two -- the run of solo movies, including "Thor: The Dark World," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," that will bridge the gap between last year's mega-hit "The Avengers" and its 2015 sequel. But clearly, the comic-company-turned-studio have plans beyond that, and assuming the films continue to be successful, we'll continue to see other side projects like the upcoming "S.H.I.E.L.D" TV show, and others besides.

While Warner Bros. flounders around trying to figure out what to do with "Justice League," Kevin Feige is showing them -- and the rest of Hollywood -- how it's done. With "The Avengers" capping off Phase One of the Marvel cycle by making a billion dollars or so, Feige has led the studio to unprecedented success in a genre that was once considered a risky niche. But for Phase Two he's raising the bar, and getting more ambitious, and that can easily be seen by the decision to make "Guardians Of The Galaxy."

Marvel's making like a kid loaded with candy, aren't they? Their slate takes them all the way to 2015's double-fisting of "The Avengers 2" on May 1st and "Ant-Man" that November 6th. Speaking to MTV recently, Feige revealed that the Edgar Wright-directed "Ant-Man," which will have been in development for eleven years by the time the film hits the screens, will launch what the company considers "Phase Three."

Depending on who you are, you either like your superhero movies to be gritty and grounded, or you just want to see some spandex, high fives and explosions. Well, if you're in the latter camp, good news -- "Iron Man 3" won't be taxing your brain too much.

Marvel Plans Update #4536211: We're three years away from "The Avengers 2," and with Marvel Phase 2 pretty much mapped out, it means that speculation is now beginning on what's going to happen years for now, meaning every burp and fart from anyone involved in those films, will be reported and scrutinzed to the nth degree. And so thus, here we are talking about the possibility of a standalone Hulk movie.

If there’s one person who should be able to instill some hope in fans wishing that Disney’s stake in Marvel and Pixar studios could lead to a collaboration someday, it would probably be animation stalwart and Pixar founding father John Lasseter. While Pixar has been generating quality films from “Toy Story” to this week’s release of “Brave” (our review here) for some time, the acquisition of Marvel Studios still feels fairly recent, and the overwhelmingly creative folks at Pixar don’t seem the type to pick up a franchise for a quick buck.

Normally, the window for open discussion on a film's ending is debatable, with some camps saying 6 months while others go for 5 years, but considering in the time it just took to blink “The Avengers” has made another cool million, we feel pretty confident in exploring its mid-credits teaser. Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige thinks so too, and in a recent interview he chatted about the eternal villain's role in their film universe, as well as his thought on “Iron Man 3” and “Thor 2.”
