Sony's Fall 2012 Oscar Date Now Goes To A Kevin James ComedyPerhaps in reaction to a New York Times piece plotting that the Obama administration was unlawfully providing Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal access to details of Osama Bin Laden's assassination to boost the president's own political agenda, Sony Pictures has now pushed back the duo's black-ops thriller from its planned October 12th unveiling to a date later in 2012, possibly even 2013, placing its release after the next election.

It has been a pretty remarkable past couple of years for Australian actor Joel Edgerton. While he made his first tentative steps in Hollywood with a role in a couple of the "Star Wars" prequels, "King Arthur" and "Smokin' Aces," it would be the movies he made as part of his Blue-Tongue Films collective that would raise his profile. "The Square" and "Animal Kingdom" were both breakout films and since then, Edgerton has never been busier. He's got a wide variety of roles on his plate with the horror remake "The Thing," the fantasy "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" and the MMA drama "Warrior" all set to hit theaters, with roles in Kathryn Bigelow's Mark Boal-scribed untitled black-ops thriller (aka "Kill Bin Laden") and Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" in the works. In short, the actor is on the cusp of becoming a household name and a familiar face.

Kathryn Bigelow & Mark Boal Refute Charges Made Against ThemKathryn Bigelow's upcoming project about the takedown of Osama bin Laden has been the subject of much speculation. Originally set to be based on a true story about an unspecified military black ops mission, the film was shaken up by the surprise news of Osama bin Laden's death this spring, with reports quickly following that the Bigelow film would include the 40-minute firefight that killed bin Laden, with screenwriter Mark Boal -- a former investigative journalist -- using his research and resources to build out that portion of the film. And apparently, his sourcing is making folks in high places uncomfortable.

No Mention Of Joel Edgerton Starring In The FilmSince late last year, director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal have been hard at work on black ops thriller, the details of which, at the time, were being kept under wraps but was rumored to be about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Those rumors turned out be true but when the Al Qaeda leader was suddenly killed a few weeks ago, it was reported that Boal a former investigative reporter, shifted his research and resources and was already rewriting with a section covering the 40 minute firefight that resulted in Bin Laden's death. Even more, Aussie actor Joel Edgerton was said to be a frontrunner for the untitled film -- also referred to as "Kill Bin Laden" -- but once, again word quieted. But not for long.

But Will The Events Of Last Night Scupper The Project?Update: Variety reports that the Bigelow/Boal team will now include the 40-minute firefight that killed Osama Bin Laden. Boal, a former investigative reporter, continues to research and uses his resources to build the script, but casting is apparently gearing up with a summer shoot being eyed. And with Bin Laden's death now factoring into the story, financing will apparently come together much more easily.
