Isabel Lucas Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
Over the past few months, some of the actors who stopped by the set of Terrence Malick's "Knight Of Cups" have shared their unique experiences working on the movie. Joel Kinnaman described having to deal with a seventeen-page monologue, Cate Blanchett called it a "quasi-religious" experience, Teresa Palmer talked about Malick's method of "torpedoing" the actors, and Antonio Banderas thinks he's made the final cut, though some of the material he doesn't even remember shooting. And now another actress reveals that she too has probably survived the editing process, but adds that we'll perhaps be waiting much longer to see the finished product.

Remember back in 2011, when Terrence Malick released the literally indescribably powerful film “The Tree of Life” and let it be known that he had no less than three more films on their way? For a man whose entire, near-40 year career had so far yielded only four movies, it was thrilling to learn that it might take just four years to get as many again...

Norman Reedus,Walking Dead
John Hillcoat always nabs great casts. “Lawless” had Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, I’m Not Famous Anymore, and many others. And now Deadline reports that “Walking Dead” dirtbag Norman Reedus has joined the cast of his latest, the contemporary cop thriller “Triple Nine.” This spectacular cast already includes Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Kate Winslet and Gal Gadot. Damyo. Nick Cave will likely write the score again.

Joel Kinnaman
Just like the start of the past few years, we wonder if in the months ahead we'll see the latest from Terrence Malick, who is currently sitting on two films; an untitled Austin music scene set movie, and "Knight Of Cups." Will they screen at Cannes or perhaps be split up and hit a couple of different festivals? Your guess is as good as ours, though Malick's protege A.J. Edwards—the director behind the very Malick-y "The Better Angels," which the reclusive filmmaker put his name on as producer—seems to think they will indeed arrive sometime in 2014.

Knight Of Cups Hanan Townshend
Terrence Malick has let many collaborators into his secretive, creative lair but only a select few have become regulars. But it looks like Hanan Townshend will join folks like production designer Jack Fisk, editor Billy Weber and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki as one of the lucky few.

And so 2013 draws to a close, and even though production started on two different, new Terrence Malick films back in 2011, there is still no sign of either "Knight Of Cups" or his Untitled Music Scene project. Both movies feature extensive, starry cast members who dropped by to work on the movie at various junctures, and both have plot details which are a mystery to everyone but Malick, but it looks like there is one major star you can likely count out of one of the projects.

Taking a "break" from shooting Kenneth Branagh's "Cinderella" in London, Cate Blanchett walked on the stage of Alice Tully Hall Wednesday night dripping in Hollywood glamor (immediately after an exclusive invite-only dinner in her honor) and sat down with NYFF programming director Kent Jones as part of the festival's Gala tribute to her career. As the discussion got underway, the stunning and humorously self-effacing Blanchett spoke about her experiences working with highly esteemed directors (Allen, Malick, Scorsese ...), her first paying acting gig (for five Egyptian pounds and free falafel—"I only have one anecdote and that was it") and her children's hopes that someday she will be in a blockbuster ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull"?).

As you know, there are approximately five thousand actors who have walked onto the set and in front of a camera for Terrence Malick's next effort "Knight Of Cups," a drama set against the backdrop of the movie industry, one of two features he's prepping along with a still untitled flick that takes place amongst the Austin music scene. And one of the talents that got to spend some time with Malick on 'Cups' was rising Australian actress Teresa Palmer, who was last seen onscreen in the zombie rom-com "Warm Bodies" and features in the upcoming thriller "Wish You Were Here." And like many who have collaborated with the press shy filmmaker, she wholeheartedly enjoyed the experience.

We were a bit depressed about the reception to "To The Wonder." When Terrence Malick's latest premiered in Venice last year, we found it beguiling and beautiful, and arguably superior to his previous picture "The Tree Of Life." But the critical consensus didn't agree with us, and the film picked up some harsh notices, and in the month since it was released, has made only $500,000 at the U.S. box office.

Billy Weber, Terrence Malick
While at this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival, we had the chance to sit down with Billy Weber, Terrence Malick’s longtime editor. Beginning his editing career on the cult horror flick “Messiah of Evil,” Weber went on to work with directors ranging from Malick to Martin Scorsese (“Taxi Driver”) to Tony Scott (“Top Gun”). Meeting Malick as an editing assistant on “Badlands,” the two have become decades-long friends and worked together on four more films spanning over forty years -- “Days of Heaven,” “The Thin Red Line” and “The Tree of Life.” Being close to the enigmatic director, Weber gave us some insight on Malick’s upcoming projects, although Weber won’t be involved in either, and laid some rumors to rest. As we shared last week, Weber revealed that Malick is working on a director’s cut for "The Tree of Life.” Here are a few more things we gleaned from that conversation.
